Job Summary The Credit Officer will support the Bank in many capacities including mentoring Credit Department staff, reviewing credit requests/annual reviews, and assisting the Chief Credit Officer with policies, procedures, reporting and projects. The Credit Officer collaborates with Loan Officers, Credit Department staff, and Loan Operations to ensure effective management and risk evaluation of the loan portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
Act as a voting member of Executive Loan Committee, contributing expertise and insights.
Assist in training and mentoring a team of credit analysts/portfolio analysts.
Review credit requests and loan modifications for accuracy and provide feedback to credit analysts and loan officers. This will include credit memos, financial statements, tax returns, credit reports, and other relevant documentation.
Review risk rating analysis and Criticized/Classified Asset Reports and provide feedback.
Approve requests such as borrowing bases and construction draws.
Prepare assigned board reports.
Assist Chief Credit Officer in developing loan policies, procedures & templates.
Assist in collection efforts and collaborate with outside counsel of the Bank when necessary.
Assist with projects and exams/loan reviews as assigned.
Attend/complete assigned training.
Comply with and enforce all Bank policies/procedures and regulatory requirements/laws.
Maintain Company and customer confidentiality.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Economics or related Business field.
A minimum of 10 years of applicable experience in commercial loan underwriting/credit administration.
A minimum of 15 years of applicable experience in commercial loan underwriting/credit administration may be substituted for the above educational requirement.
Skills
Familiarity with financial spreading software and bank core systems.
Strong analytical, critical thinking and organizational skills.
Effective written and verbal interpersonal skills and ability to work well with customers and internal teams.
Maintains professional demeanor at all times.
Detail-oriented.
Ability to work independently and possess excellent time management and prioritization skills.
Proficient in financial and office software (Excel, financial modeling tools, etc.).
Strong understanding of financial market conditions.
