Location: Sherwood Park, AB, Canada

Position Title: Mechanical/Piping Designer As a Canadian leader in infrastructure development, Aecon builds what matters for future generations to thrive. We are seeking an enthusiastic Mechanical/Piping Designer with experience supporting power generation and heavy industrial projects in either Edmonton, AB or Calgary, AB offices.

Responsibilities

Under minimal supervision, design medium to complex mechanical/piping systems using 2D and 3D design tools.

Manage design development, preparing drawings using project specifications and discipline‑associated written and verbal instructions in accordance with established design practices, standards, and procedures.

Design plant mechanical and piping systems, develop piping and instrument diagrams (P&IDs), general arrangement drawings (GA), details, equipment plans, and piping orthographic and isometric drawings.

Understand and apply the engineer’s design development process.

Review vendor documents and mechanical supplier documents for accuracy.

Coordinate mechanical/piping design activities and collaborate with other discipline groups.

What You Bring to the Team

College or university degree in Mechanical Design or Engineering.

Minimum 10 years of North American experience in Mechanical Engineering and Design.

Experience with industry standard engineering software such as Plant3D, REVIT, ACC, BluBeam.

Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with multi‑discipline engineers and designers.
