The YMCA of Greater Kansas City is seeking a mission-driven, relationship-centered Executive Director to lead our Providence YMCA / Ball Family Center.
Located in the heart of Kansas City, Kansas, the Providence YMCA / Ball Family Center serves a diverse and growing Wyandotte County community. This branch plays an important role beyond traditional wellness and recreation by connecting families to youth development programs, food distribution resources, community partnerships, and healthy living opportunities that strengthen neighborhood well-being.
Position Summary The Executive Director oversees all daily center operations, drives strategic growth, and serves as the face of the community. This leader is accountable for membership growth, financial performance, community partnerships, program innovation, and delivering an exceptional member experience aligned with the YMCA of Greater Kansas City’s mission and values. The Executive Director builds strong teams, cultivates volunteer leadership, and ensures the center remains a welcoming, inclusive, and safe environment for all.
Qualifications Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum five years of progressive management experience; YMCA or nonprofit leadership preferred. Bilingual English/Spanish communication skills preferred to enhance community engagement, family relationships, and partnership development within the diverse Kansas City, Kansas community. Proven success leading teams, coaching leaders, and developing staff talent. Demonstrated experience in membership, customer service, program operations, community engagement, and/or fundraising. Strong communication, relationship-building, and public speaking skills. Ability to analyze data, drive performance metrics, and implement strategic plans. Passion for the YMCA mission, community impact, equity, and inclusive leadership. Must have reliable transportation. Travel around the Greater Kansas City area is required.
