Technical Drafter — Custom Cabinetry & Millwork

Woodweb, Framingham, MA, United States

ABOUT THE ROLE Fine Finish Cabinetry has spent more than 25 years building extraordinary residential interiors for discerning clients. Our 30,000 sq ft Framingham shop is home to a team of passionate craftspeople and the latest woodworking technology — and we hold every project to the same exacting standard our reputation was built on.

We are looking for a Technical Drafter who thinks like a craftsperson and engineers like a problem‑solver. This isn’t a seat‑warming drafting role. You’ll translate complex architectural plans and field measurements into precise, buildable shop drawing packages — working shoulder‑to‑shoulder with our cabinetmakers, project managers, and installers to deliver work our high‑end clients never forget.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Produce detailed shop drawings, installer packages, and work orders from architectural plans and field measurements. You own drawings from first take‑off to final sign‑off — accuracy is non‑negotiable.

Conduct on‑site field measurements and translate them into precise, production‑ready documentation. Occasional travel to luxury residential job sites in the greater Boston area.

Prepare thorough material takeoffs for lumber, sheet goods, and hardware. Your numbers feed our production floor — completeness matters as much as precision.

Review project proposals and estimates for accuracy before client submission. A second set of expert eyes that protects the client relationship and our margin.

Collaborate daily with shop managers, cabinetmakers, and project teams. You bridge design intent and physical execution — communication is core to this job.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Hands‑on cabinetry or millwork background: You’ve built things, or worked closely with those who do. You understand how wood moves, how joinery works, and what it takes to produce a flawless finish.

Proven AutoCAD proficiency (v2016 or later). 2+ years producing shop drawings, not just drafting schematics. SketchUp experience is a strong plus.

Engineering‑minded problem solving: Comfortable pushing design boundaries to create custom, one‑of‑a‑kind solutions our clients can’t get anywhere else.

Expert attention to detail: The kind where you notice a 1/32" discrepancy before it becomes a costly mistake on the shop floor.

Strong communicator: Fluent with architectural plans and specs, and able to translate complex technical requirements for both craftspeople and clients.

Proficient in Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace for estimates, proposals, and project coordination.
