Bilingual (Spanish/English) Accountant Examiner 2
This position is part of the Bureau of Workers’ Compensation Policy Processing Unit. It serves employers and public entities by reviewing and processing claims, coverage, payroll reports, and related inquiries. The role requires bilingual communication in Spanish and English; successful candidates receive a $1.15 bilingual supplement.
Responsibilities
Provide assistance to walk‑in customers at the service office front counter.
Respond to written and telephone inquiries from public and private employers regarding coverage issues.
Monitor, review, and establish coverage on business accounts for private and public employers.
Determine if an employer is amenable to O.R.C. Section 4123.01 prior to the effective date of coverage.
Examine and process annual employer payroll reports, true‑up reporting, and amended true‑up reporting.
Identify and refer audits to the appropriate Auditing Supervisor.
Answer inquiries (verbally and/or in writing) from government officials, Bureau personnel, and other customers concerning entity dissolution, payroll processing, or financial adjustments.
Qualifications
24 months
experience in a role involving review/processing of claims, collections, billings, payments, or document review for accuracy, completeness, or compliance with reporting guidelines; experience commensurate to duties to be assigned.
Or
16 semester or 24 quarter hours
in accounting plus
12 months
experience in accounting or other fiscal/financial activity.
Or
12 months
experience as an Accountant/Examiner 1 (66111) with state government experience commensurate with duties to be assigned.
Or equivalent of the minimum class qualifications for employment noted above.
Major Worker Characteristics
Knowledge
of accounting, applicable state & federal regulations governing documents processed, reviewed, or prepared;
Skill
in the use of a calculator, adding machine, typewriter, video display terminal, or personal computer and photocopier;
Ability
to apply principles to solve practical, everyday problems; gather, collate & classify information; complete routine forms and prepare standard reports; handle routine and sensitive inquiries from and contacts with other government officials, the general public, claimants, and/or providers.

Language Requirement Proficient in spoken and written Spanish and English.
Compensation $22.96 per hour
