Position Summary :
The Miami Beach JCC (MBJCC), a nonprofit organization dedicated to creating a vibrant and inclusive community, is seeking a Health & Fitness Director to join our team. This position requires exceptional leadership responsibilities for the overall vision and strategic direction of the MBJCC's Health & Fitness Department. In this high-profile role, the Director will oversee program development, all fitness facilities & equipment, staff supervision, provide quality customer service, ensure planning, financial management and be responsible for the overall success of the Department
General Responsibilities
Responsible for the overall administration and management of the MBJCC's Health and Fitness Department.
Hire, train and supervise full and part-time staff including: Group Fitness Instructors, Personal Trainers, Floor Staff, Class Instructors, & other Health & Fitness Positions
Prepare and monitor Health & Fitness Departmental budgets.
Supervise the purchase or lease of Health & Fitness supplies, equipment and monitor inventory.
Prepare statistics, reports, rosters and schedules as needed. Manage the membership and fitness computer platforms, including scheduling of private training, group exercise and operations.
Responsible for the upkeep of equipment and ensure that timely maintenance and potential repairs are done.
Market, promote and publicize all aspects of MBJCC's Health and Fitness Department.
Meet with supervisor on a weekly basis, and attend all full staff meetings.
Supervise, plan and implement all ongoing Health & Fitness classes, programs and special events
Routinely evaluate programs, along with staff and committees, and make changes when necessary to ensure the highest quality programs and services to members.
Develop meaningful relationships with members through supervision of on-going activities and day-to-day interactions.
Stay informed of all trends and developments in the Health and Fitness area.
Supervise and maintain credentials for Health & Fitness staff as needed.
Supervise and help implement departmental staff training for all Health & Fitness areas, building a team approach.
Monitor customer service in the Health and Fitness area working towards building positive relationships with members, and being responsive to their needs.
Staff the MBJCC's Health and Fitness Committee working closely with the Chair.
Ensure Health & Fitness programs cater to the diverse needs and interests of our MBJCC members and the wider community, and have the potential to generate positive revenue streams.
Demonstrate a positive attitude and hold team members accountable for providing the highest level of customer service, program innovation, and overall Excellence.
Implement member retention initiatives, such as feedback mechanisms, surveys, and personalized fitness plans. Work closely with the Membership Department to engage and motivate members, while also assisting in recruiting new members.
Seek grants, sponsorships, and other funding opportunities to support Health & Fitness initiatives.
Ensure that all department staff members receive appropriate training and maintain relevant & required certifications.
Work with and develop community partners to collaborate successfully.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of 4 years of supervisory experience and personnel management required
Fitness expertise with a current national certification
Experience in program development, budget management, and strategic thinking.
Proficient with various computer programs; Microsoft suite, fitness platforms, social media.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted at the MBJCC's discretion to meet the minimum criteria.
