Overview

Child and Youth Services (CYS) Assistant Director responsibilities include assisting the supervisor in operating an assigned CYS program in accordance with applicable regulations and standards, with oversight of staff performance and the safety and well‑being of children and youth. Responsibilities

Assist the supervisor in the operation of an assigned CYS program IAW DoD, Army, and local regulations and standards. Provide program oversight and accountability for staff performance and the safety and well‑being of children and youth. Assist in maintaining DoD/Army certification for assigned program areas and support achieving/retaining national accreditation or Army equivalent standards. Provide staff professional recognition and/or disciplinary action; conduct written observations of staff during all hours of operation and evaluate employees based on established performance standards. Collaborate with other CYS Managers to ensure seamless service and continuity of quality options for all children and youth; participate as a member of the CYS Program Plan Team to develop written strategies for program improvement. Requirements

Direct Deposit and Social Security Card required. Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for the position. One‑year probationary period may be required. Satisfactorily complete employment verification (E-Verify). Must be at least 18 years of age at time of appointment. Subject to satisfactory completion of pre‑employment checks per AR 215‑3, including a Child Care Tier 1 background investigation. Crime Control Act must be completed and maintained. Satisfactory performance, successful completion of training requirements, and demonstrated on‑the‑job competency required. Travel to on and off post locations required. Must have current health assessment documenting good mental/physical health, freedom from communicable disease, and immunizations per Army/DoD policy (including annual influenza vaccinations). Qualifications

Resumes must be two pages (or less) and clearly demonstrate relevant experience, skills, knowledge, and abilities for this position. Educational/experience requirements include: 4‑year degree with a major related to CYS field; for Child Development Facilities, education in child development/early childhood education or related fields; experience teaching or performing duties related to the position; ability to select, train, supervise, and develop child development programs; strong planning, data analysis, and problem‑solving abilities; strong oral and written communication skills. Additional requirement: 24 semester hours in education or relevant CYS field plus related work experience; related experience teaching children or equivalent; ability to develop/implement child development programs; ability to plan/organize work and present ideas to diverse audiences.
