Job Summary
Serves as a Child and Youth Services (CYS) Assistant Director of a CYS Program, assisting the supervisor in the operation of an assigned CYS program in accordance with applicable regulations and standards. Provides program oversight and accountability for staff performance and safety of children and youth in accordance with DoD, Army, and local policies. Ensures certification and accreditation compliance. Conducts staff evaluations and disciplinary actions. Works with other CYS managers to ensure seamless service and serves on the CYS Program Plan Team. Responsibilities
Assist the supervisor in the operation of an assigned CYS program in accordance with applicable regulations and standards. Provide program oversight and accountability for the performance of assigned staff and the safety and well‑being of children and youth in accordance with DoD, Army, and local policies and standards. Assist in maintaining DoD/Army certification for assigned program areas and ensure program achieves and retains national accreditation or Army equivalent and maintains accreditation/Army equivalent standards. Conduct written observations of staff during all hours of operation, evaluate employees based on established performance standards, and provide appropriate staff professional recognition or disciplinary action. Work cooperatively with other CYS Managers to ensure seamless service and continuity of quality options for all children and youth. Serve as a member of the CYS Program Plan Team to develop written strategies for program improvement. Requirements

Direct Deposit and Social Security Card required. Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position. A one‑year probationary period may be required. Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E‑Verify) check. Subject to satisfactory completion of all pre‑employment checks in accordance with AR 215‑3, para.2, including a Child Care Tier 1 background investigation. The Crime Control Act must be successfully completed and maintained. Satisfactory performance, successful completion of training requirements, and demonstrated on‑job competency is required. Travel to on‑ and off‑post locations required. Must have current health assessment documenting good mental and physical health, freedom from communicable disease, and immunizations in accordance with current Army and DoD policy, including annual influenza vaccinations. Qualifications
Successful completion of a 4‑year college or university degree with a major directly related to the CYS field for various positions (e.g., youth development, youth administration, education, home economics, physical education, elementary education, special education, or related behavioral science), or at least 24 semester hours in education or a related field plus relevant work experience. Directly related work experience teaching children or similar work equivalent to at least the next lower grade or level, with a minimum of 3 months of experience. Ability to select, train, and supervise childcare and preschool employees, family childcare providers, or other care‑givers. Ability to develop and implement child development programs, including family day care, part‑day preschool, and before‑and‑after school programs. Strong planning, problem‑analysis, data‑gathering, and solution‑recognition skills. Comprehensive oral, communication, analytical writing, and presentation skills, and the ability to propose ideas to diverse audiences. Resumes must be two pages (or less).

Proof of education is required at the time of application. Education must be directly related to the position. General education courses do not count toward the credit total.
