Assistant Sports and Fitness Director (CYS) NF-03.

Responsibilities

Assist in child and youth team sports, age-appropriate fitness and health initiatives, skill-building clinics, and community outreach; manage an active program of volunteer coaches and coach certification.

Assist in planning and implementing programs that promote positive growth and development of children and youth; provide program oversight and accountability for staff performance and participant safety.

Ensure programs follow the National Standards for Youth Sports (NAYS); train and monitor coaches according to National Youth Sports Coaches Association (NYSCA) guidelines; supervise volunteers as required.

Assist the supervisor in developing and managing budgets and procurement of supplies and equipment; collect and maintain up-to-date statistical data for planning and reports; ensure compliance with Child and Youth Service (CYS) standards.

Perform a full range of supervisory functions with staff and assist in recruitment and selection actions; prepare reports, surveys, and briefings for the command and installation on matters pertaining to CYS.

One-year probationary period may be required.

Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.

Subject to satisfactory completion of all pre-employment checks in accordance with AR 215-3, para.2, including a Child Care Tier 1 background investigation.

Must complete a health assessment including all required immunizations.

Must possess and maintain the physical ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs, walk, bend, stoop, and stand on a routine basis.

Must obtain/maintain certification in CPR/First Aid.

Qualifications

A bachelor’s degree or higher, including a major course of study or at least 24 semester hours in physical education.

OR All of the following: Experience in the planning, supervision, administration, or delivery of a sports or physical education program that included a variety of individual and team sports.

Experience in providing skills development and teaching the techniques of various sports.

Experience coaching multiple sports or providing coaches with sports‑specific training in coaching techniques and required skills/fundamentals.

Relocation incentive: $14,250 (available for selections made after one year of service, with eligibility for NAF employees only).

Highly Preferred Qualifications

Experience in the planning, evaluation, or delivery of a sports program or curriculum specifically for children or youth; or at least 12 semester hours in college coursework directly related to children or youth (e.g., PE for children, motor skills development, child development, health/nutrition for children, child/adolescent psychology).
