Golf Recreation Leader

The Cosumnes Community Services District is seeking to hire qualified individuals for the position of year-round part-time Golf Recreation Leader at Emerald Lakes Golf Course. Under close supervision, the Recreation Leader assists in planning and conducting a wide variety of recreational and educational activities and programs such as day camps, youth and adult sports, leisure and enrichment classes, and special events specific to the assigned program area of the position. This position oversees and directs the activities of the participants at the site. Incumbents will typically work an average of 16-24 hours per week. Actual hours assigned may be increased or decreased at any time depending upon the needs of the department. The golf course is open year-round from 5 am to 10 pm, including holidays, weekends, and evenings. The salary range for the Recreation Leader classification is between $16.90 - $18.44 per hour. The District typically appoints new employees at step 1 of the salary range. Consideration for an appointment higher than step 1 will be based on experience, education, or the need for unique skills or knowledge and shall be no more than the mid-point of the salary range. Duties and Responsibilities

Assists in planning, implementing and leading participants in a variety of recreation programs specific to a program area; Follows cash handling procedures, ensuring policies are enforced and maintained; Sets up and takes down equipment and assures all equipment and supplies are properly stored and secured at all times; Provides a safe and clean environment with adequate supervision by implementing guidelines from CSD and Department policies and procedures manuals; Provides courteous and professional service to all program participants, facility users, CSD personnel and the public; Arrives on time and in proper attire/appearance as required by CSD guidelines; Accountable for all program participants during program hours; Monitors behavior of participants; Conducts set up and clean up of facility and equipment; Enforces rules and regulations of programs and facilities as mandated by CSD policies; Follows cash handling procedures, ensuring policies are enforced and maintained; Attends, and participates at staff meetings and trainings; Completes appropriate reports and forms as necessary; Conducts work tasks safely and in compliance with Department safety standards and the CSD Injury and Illness Prevention Program; Required to work shifts, weekends, and holidays; May assist in the on-site communication with parents, participants and the public; May assist with the operation of preparing and selling food including specialty items. Qualifications

Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required skills, knowledge, and abilities may be considered qualifying at the sole discretion of the District. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and skills would be: Education and Training: None required Experience: None required Special Requirements: Possession of, or the ability to obtain, First Aid and CPR/AED certification within the first thirty (30) days of employment; Certification must be maintained through employment; Ability to obtain and retain a Work Permit throughout employment, if under the age of 18; Must possess and maintain throughout employment a valid California class "C" driver's license, with a clean driving record; Must be 18 years of age or older. Knowledge of: Current methods, techniques, principles, and procedures used in the planning and implementation process for a variety of children's recreational and education activities relevant to the assigned program area; Basic principles of child development and activities that support growth; Basic principles of customer service; Basic operation of appliances, equipment and office machines including a vacuum cleaner, heating and air conditioning unit, intrusion alarm, calculator, computer, keyboard, cash register, printers and other peripherals, copier, and fax machine; Current methods and techniques used in preparing reports and forms, using a prescribed format and conforming to all rules of punctuation, grammar, diction and style; Basic arithmetic including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division; calculation of decimals, ratios, percentages and fractions. Ability: Effectively and tactfully communicate both orally and in writing with program participants, EGUSD personnel, CSD personnel and the public; Comprehend and prepare reports such as score sheets, accident, incident, and behavior reports, emergency, registration, and Hold Harmless forms using a prescribed format and conforming to all rules of punctuation, grammar, diction and style; Analyze and use independent judgment in problem solving fairly routine situations such as supervising children's activities and trips, caring for children with injuries and resolving conflicts between participants to ensure safety. Mobility: frequent use of keyboard; frequent sitting or standing for long periods of time; occasional walking, standing, bending, stooping, squatting, kneeling, crawling and twisting, and running while performing field work; frequent pushing, pulling or lifting up to forty (40) pounds for setting up programs, special events, food preparation, activities, games, and crafts; Vision: constant use of overall vision; frequent computer use; occasional color and depth vision; Dexterity: frequent repetitive motion; frequent writing and typing; frequent grasping, holding and reaching; frequent operation of office equipment and recreation related tools such as, but not limited to, scissors, plunger, mop, first aid supplies and hand tools; Hearing/Talking: frequent hearing and talking in person and on the phone; Emotional/Psychological: frequent decision making and concentration, frequent public and/or coworker contact; may occasionally work alone; Driving: in designated positions - ability to use fine and gross motor coordination for driving.
