The Role We are looking for an ambitious and creative
Public Relations Intern
to support the media relations, social media, content strategy and branding efforts of Versaterm. Working closely with the Marketing & Communications team members, you will assist with ambitious storytelling projects at the intersection of technology and public safety. You will be heavily involved with content creation, tactical execution and administrative support across a broad range of campaigns. You will learn how to develop executive communications strategies, interact with the media and build relationships, and create content at both the product and thought leadership level. You will also learn how to develop and use AI tools to augment communications workflows.
What You’ll Do
Ideate on earned media pitching opportunities that elevate our products and executives
Draft and review media outreach materials, including briefing documents, pitches and media lists
Assist in writing and editing long-form content, including blog posts, case studies, and thought leadership articles regarding public safety technology
Develop multimedia assets, such as short-form videos or graphics, to support digital storytelling initiatives
Interview subject matter experts within the company to gather insights for communications campaigns
Other duties as assigned
What You'll Bring
Pursuing an Associate’s, Bachelor’s or graduate degree in communications, public relations, journalism, marketing, or a related field (preferred)
Strong writing and editing skills with a keen eye for detail
An interest in cutting‑edge technologies including artificial intelligence and drones
Creative mindset balanced with critical thinking and problem‑solving skills
Organized self‑starter with ability to work independently in a deadline‑driven environment
Light design skills, with image editing a plus
Based in the Lexington/Columbia, SC area preferred
Note: Due to the nature of our work with public safety agencies, this position requires compliance with the FBI's Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Security Policy. Candidates must successfully pass a comprehensive, fingerprint‑based background check. Specific customer contracts may impose additional security verification requirements. Obtaining and maintaining all required security clearances is a condition of employment.
