Description The National Pork Board (NPB) is looking for a motivated, results-driven leader to join our team as Assistant Vice President, Channel Marketing. In this high-impact role, you’ll lead the development and execution of innovative channel strategies that grow demand, strengthen partnerships, and drive measurable growth for the pork category across both retail and foodservice. This position requires a strategic leader who can connect insights, innovation and channel execution to accelerate category growth and ensure new opportunities are commercialized across the marketplace.

Responsibilities

Develop and lead a comprehensive channel marketing strategy across retail and foodservice to grow demand for fresh and processed pork

Identify and activate high-impact opportunities with retailers, operators, distributors, and industry partners

Oversee the development of channel programs that support the entire food supply chain

Build and maintain strong relationships across the pork value chain, including retail, foodservice, packers/processors, and state organizations

Partner with Business Intelligence to translate insights into actionable go-to-market strategies

Drive category growth and profitability through data-informed decision-making

Lead and manage a channel team

Develop and execute account strategies for key partners and manage select strategic accounts

Oversee account management plans for strategic accounts that offer best ROI

Monitor performance metrics (IRI, Numerator, retailer data) and turn insights into action

Represent NPB at key industry events

Manage annual channel budget and ensure strong ROI on Checkoff investments

Skills/Experience Needed

Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, culinary arts, or related field

10–15+ years of experience in food/retail, marketing, or related industries

Strong background in strategy development and execution

Deep understanding of retail merchandising, foodservice, supply chain, and pork processing

Proven ability to influence, innovate, and build relationships across complex organizations

Experience leveraging data and insights to drive business outcomes

Exceptional communication and leadership skills, including public speaking

A collaborative mindset with the ability to lead cross-functional teams

Self-starter with a passion for identifying new growth opportunities

Travel Requirements

Up to 70% domestic travel (air and ground)

Valid driver’s license required

National Pork Board’s home office is in Clive, Iowa. Preference will be given to candidates that can work a hybrid schedule (at least 3 days per week) in the Clive office, however remote candidates may be considered. Relocation assistance will be available.

Full-time starting salary range is $170K-200K. Please note: This starting range is based on a general market pay assessment. However, individual salary decisions take into account a variety of factors including but not limited to: business and local market considerations, internal equity, and overall candidate skills, education and experience.

The National Pork Board has responsibility for Checkoff-funded research, promotion and consumer information projects and for communicating with pork producers and the public. The Pork Checkoff funds national and state programs in advertising, consumer information, retail and foodservice marketing, export market promotion, production improvement, technology, swine health, pork safety and environmental management.
