Job Summary The Assistant Director of Advanced Practice Providers (APP) at Harold C. Simmons Comprehensive Cancer Center will provide direct and indirect management to over 100 APPs and APP leaders across the continuum of care, including inpatient and ambulatory sites. The role involves subject‑matter expertise on APP privileging, onboarding, clinical practice, utilization, and leading quality improvement and strategic endeavors. The Director will collaborate with OAPP leaders to support APP fellowships, practice transition, and professional development, and serve as an executive sponsor for various committees and workgroups.

Licenses and Certifications
Licensure as Advanced Practice Registered Nurse by Texas State Board of Nursing and prescriptive authority by the Texas Board of Nursing
OR licensure as Physician Assistant (ARC‑PA) licensed by the Texas Physician Assistant Board
Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification by the American Heart Association or Red Cross (per UT Southwestern policy)
Experience 5 years of oncology clinical experience with demonstrated progressive leadership and administrative responsibilities.
Job Duties
Serve as a specialty area expert on APP professional requirements, scope of practice, regulatory and compliance requirements.
Conduct audits on APP practice, documents and compliance with quality assurance initiatives.
Develop and implement APP compliance assurance for privileges and skills.
Provide administrative oversight for all APPs in the department to assure consistent practice principles and operations.
Provide leadership support for physicians within the department to optimize utilization of APP roles.
Guide Lead APPs in the department to foster leadership growth.
Collaborate with the Director of Advanced Practice Providers to create new APP opportunities aligned with strategic growth initiatives.
Develop and implement best‑practice models with expected outcomes, targets and goals for APPs in the department.
Monitor outcomes and satisfaction data of all department APPs and develop action plans accordingly.
Oversee recruitment efforts of APPs in the department and support formalized orientation for newly hired APPs.
Facilitate educational experiences for APPs for continued professional growth and optimal retention.
Oversee and schedule all APP coverage in the department.
Seek opportunities to maintain clinical competence and skill proficiency.
Perform all clinical duties in alignment with scope of practice, training and experience.
Perform other duties as assigned.
