Senior Motion Designer, FIN Studios Job at Zambezi in Los Angeles

Zambezi’s award-winning, full-service production studio, FIN Studios, is seeking a conceptual and innovative Senior Motion Designer to join the team. FIN Studios creates compelling commercial and original content, delivering high-impact motion design for a variety of platforms. This role is key to our continued growth and the exciting evolution of our motion design offering.

The ideal candidate has a keen eye for design, substantial experience in both 2D and 3D animation, and proficiency in Generative AI video and design workflows. You should be able to tell a story through conceptual visual ideas and bring them to life across multiple channels. At FIN, we view Generative AI as an extension of strong design thinking, not a replacement for it; this role prioritizes taste, intent, and decision-making over tool novelty. You must be willing and excited to work hands‑on, supporting the Studio Motion Design Director in leading and overseeing various projects.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Support Studio Motion Design Director by developing design concepts from initial brief to final execution.
• Utilize visual storytelling skills to align creative output with client strategies across various disciplines.
• Integrate Generative AI tools (e.g., Gemini Veo, Flow) into the creative workflow, strategically evaluating where AI enhances development, prototyping and final asset creation, and where traditional approaches are more appropriate.
• Collaborate with Studio Motion Design Director, production teams, agency and external partners to bring concepts to life.
• Pitch and execute innovative, next‑level concepts that push the boundaries of traditional motion design.
• Develop expressive brand‑aligned animations rooted in foundational motion principles.
• Iterate quickly through storyboarding and ideation based on stakeholder input and self‑driven research.
• Partner with creative directors, designers, and producers to deliver polished final animations.
• Inspire teammates by providing constructive feedback and fostering a culture of respectful critique.
• Manage multiple deadlines and prioritize tasks to ensure projects maintain consistent momentum.
• Monitor emerging trends in Generative AI, motion design, and interactive media, maintaining a critical eye on production readiness.

REQUIREMENTS

• 5+ years experience working in a creative environment creating world‑class content, supported by a diverse, forward‑thinking contemporary portfolio.
• Expert‑level proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, C4D and Redshift.
• Proficiency in AI Video Generation and Editing: Skilled in using tools such as Gemini Veo, Flow, or similar generative AI platforms to augment the production workflow.
• Conceptual thinker and hands‑on executor with the ability to clearly articulate the why behind visual decisions and carry those ideas through high‑quality 2D and 3D motion design execution, adapting as creative, technical, or production constraints evolve.
• Proficiency in prompt engineering and AI‑driven workflows, including iteration management, refinement and integration into traditional production pipelines. A deep general knowledge of sports and popular culture is essential. A proactive, "can‑do" attitude with the flexibility to meet the demands of a fast‑paced environment.
• Strong ability to work across departments while remaining detail‑oriented and managing multiple tasks simultaneously.

The salary range for this position is $90,000 - $125,000. Exactly where a prospective employee will be paid within this range will depend on, among other factors, the candidate’s depth of experience and qualifications in relation to the job description and the actual job duties of the role.
