The mission of Communities Foundation of Texas (CFT) is to improve the lives of all people in our community by investing in their health, wealth, living, and learning. CFT works to accomplish this by growing community giving, expanding community impact, and advancing community equity. With a vision of building thriving communities for all, CFT works locally and across the state with many individuals, families, companies, foundations, and nonprofits through a variety of charitable funds and strategic grantmaking initiatives. CFT professionally manages more than 1,400 charitable funds and has awarded more than $3 billion in grants since its founding in 1953. This program is designed to foster a mutually beneficial relationship that promotes growth and development for Communities Foundation of Texas, our employees, and college students. This full-time, paid internship program provides a unique opportunity to enhance academic learning, apply classroom knowledge in real-world scenarios, and gain exposure to a professional work environment. Each intern is paired with a dedicated supervisor who mentors them, helps develop business skills, and oversees their work experience. Interns actively contribute as team members by setting goals, meeting deadlines, and engaging in meaningful work that helps our community thrive. The program requires an 8-week commitment, during which interns participate in formal training, mentoring, hands-on learning, and networking opportunities with senior leaders. Intern, Marketing & Communications In this role, you will provide overall marketing support to North Texas Giving Day. This role primarily focuses on social media, event coordination, storytelling, media relations, and content creation but may also involve other communication and public relations needs. This role is ideal for a detail oriented, proactive intern interested in event management, nonprofit marketing, social media, and community engagement. The intern will support multiple pillars of marketing while gaining hands on experience in large scale nonprofit event execution. What You'll Do: North Texas Giving Day Support Develop a strong understanding of North Texas Giving Day FAQs and be prepared to help relay that messaging to donors and participating nonprofits through channel engagement Prepare story and blog ideas highlighting participating nonprofits, referencing responses and insights from North Texas Giving Day's PR Survey and social media activity. This may include proposing compelling storytelling opportunities for social media, website, and blog platforms. Event Coordination Support event planning and logistics for NTGD signature and community activation events Assist with event timelines, run-of-show documents, checklists, and internal coordination materials Help track vendor needs, event supplies, signage, and printed materials Support RSVP tracking, attendee lists, and event registration management Provide day-of event support, including setup, breakdown, registration check-in, wayfinding, and general guest assistance Post-Event & Administrative Support Assist with post-event wrap-up tasks, including organizing photos, collecting feedback, and documenting learnings Help update internal tracking documents and event recaps Support data entry and basic reporting related to event participation and engagement Social Media Support Assist with social media content planning for North Texas Giving Day channel, proactively supporting early content creation to ensure a strong North Texas Giving Day season launch Create and edit engaging short-form videos for Instagram Reels Design simple graphics or carousels in Canva and/or Adobe Photoshop Brainstorm and research ideas for original content for CFT and North Texas Giving Day channels Assist with behind-the-scenes storytelling and day-in-the-life content for CFT and North Texas Giving Day channels Assist with photo/video content shoots Identify, engage, and collaborate with social media influencers and aligned brands to amplify North Texas Giving Day campaigns Identify emerging social trends, formats, and cultural moments to increase engagement and reach Media & Public Relations Support Maintain and update master media list
ews contact database, including researching and verifying current contacts at reputable local and national outlets Draft and proofread written materials for North Texas Giving Day, including blog posts, emails, newsletters, and social media copy What you'll need Enrolled in a four-year accredited college, university, or graduate program in marketing, communications, nonprofit management, event management, or related field, preferred with good academic standing. Basic understanding of working in a hybrid environment, workplace ethics, and effective communication. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including PowerPoint, Excel, and Word. Familiarity with, or willingness to learn, tools including Canva, CapCut or similar social media editing tools, and media monitoring tools Cision, Truescope, and Sprout Social Willingness to work some evenings or weekends around key NTGD events Demonstrated strong organizational and planning abilities, with a track record of effectively coordinating, facilitating, and implementing projects in previous work or academic settings. Strong verbal and written communication skills, along with the ability to analyze and synthesize information for effective problem-solving, are highly valued. A passion for nonprofit partnership in the community.
