
Regional Campaigns Director

Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) and Planned Parenthood Action Fund seek a Regional Campaigns Director to advance shared campaign goals between state and national teams. This position reports to the Senior Director of Regional Campaigns and Capacity in the Organizing and Engagement Campaigns department.
Purpose The Regional Campaign Director (RCD) serves as the lead strategist for advancing Planned Parenthood’s advocacy, electoral, and policy campaigns within an assigned multi‑state region. The RCD develops, adapts, and implements campaign strategies that advance sexual and reproductive healthcare and rights, defend Planned Parenthood from legislative and political attacks, and build durable political power.
Engagement
Collaborates with, supports and, if needed, trains and persuades local PP advocacy and political organizations in building, adapting, and managing both state and federal campaigns, including elections.
Works with affiliates to create new centers of state power and influence, maximizing catalyzing moments to drive a powerful and winning message nationally, and fight national attacks.
Leads collaboration between local PP organizations and PP national office departments to build capacity of local PP organizations to develop and conduct multi‑year campaigns to influence state and federal policy goals.
Adapts national office resources (technical assistance, training, coaching, grant support) for local, state, and regional use and influence.
Conducts strategic planning with local PP organizations to create conditions that would support an expanded Planned Parenthood health‑care footprint, ambitious goals for supporter growth, and public policy accomplishments.
Ensures the successful implementation of the strategic plan by providing campaign and organizing expertise and technical support, providing skills training and management, providing on‑the‑ground assistance and implementing the plan directly if called upon, and connecting the local PP organizations to appropriate national office resources.
Provides direct legislative, organizing, advocacy, judicial, and other campaign support and management, rapid‑response assistance and crisis management to local PP organizations as appropriate and legally compliant.
Works as a team player in a high‑pressure work environment.
Contributes to national and affiliate development of comprehensive organizing strategies and long‑term planning.
Delivery
Serves as lead strategist and ensures the successful implementation of strategies in the states to which they are assigned.
Coordinates affiliates to align on campaign priorities, mobilize supporters, and execute joint actions that advance regional and national goals.
Serves as a critical link between the PP national office and local PP organizations to leverage national resources for local public‑affairs efforts, and to keep the national organization engaged on local public‑affairs priorities, needs, and activities.
Maintains current and accurate files, tracks affiliate activity to provide regular reports, monitors work‑related financial expenditures.
Understands local PP organization/partner organizational capacity, assesses resource needs, and recommends campaign and capacity grant needs.
Adapts national days of action and organizing moments for affiliates based on state environment and affiliate operational and political interests.
Defines campaign goals for all campaigns and works directly with affiliates as assigned to implement campaign plans and writes campaign plans as needed.
Works across teams to nationalize state campaigns when attacks or opportunities can be catalyzing for the broader movement. Helps set national goals for state responses to national threats and opportunities, including how to engage or persuade administrative, legislative, or judicial targets.
Guides strategies to bolster actions in states with pro‑SRH elected leadership and coordinates joint responses with Planned Parenthood affiliates.
Builds toolkits, templates, workbooks, and other resources for use by affiliates and their advocacy and political organizations. Builds the capacity of affiliates to create meaningful organizing programs to advance reproductive health care.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Minimum 7‑10 years of related advocacy and electoral campaign experience in organizing and management.
Minimum 3‑5 years experience as a regional/multi‑state campaign manager or director (or comparable).
Demonstrated success developing and executing integrated advocacy, legislative, electoral, and organizing campaigns.
Strong project management and operational planning skills, including experience managing complex campaigns across multiple timelines and stakeholders.
Impeccable organization and strong familiarity with project‑management software tools, methodologies, and best practices, including project‑management frameworks for defining clear roles and responsibilities on projects.
Excellent diplomatic judgment and strong interpersonal skills, including a track record of creating and maintaining strong relationships. Strength in managing conflict and crisis creatively and keeping teams moving toward results.
Must be able to motivate and lead teammates and colleagues who are not direct reports and across divisions and geographies.
Ability to recognize and respond to problems with potential solutions and facilitate negotiations for solution‑oriented agreements in a highly professional, confidential, and sensitive manner.
Strong communicator who can show progress toward goals and translate complex political strategies to varying audiences and through various channels.
Ability to identify priorities, work independently, and develop systems for addressing issues or requests.
Applies a strong race‑equity lens and experience in project‑management design, decision, analysis, and engagement.
Able to work extended hours and weekends as needed.
Passionate about the mission of Planned Parenthood and the role of health provision and advocacy.
Working knowledge of voter databases (VAN) preferred.

Travel:
50‑75% domestic travel to various states, as well as attending national meetings and conferences.
