Senior Business Analyst

Growing US Broker Dealer is seeking an experienced Business Analyst to partner with Trading, Operations, Compliance, Risk, Finance, and Technology to analyze, document, and improve end-to-end broker-dealer processes across trading and operational flows (front-to-back) and new product innovation. The Senior Business Analyst will report directly to the CTO, and will require a strategic mindset with a high level of collaboration. This role translates business needs into clear requirements and data-driven solutions, supports regulatory/compliance initiatives, and drives delivery of enhancements to trading, post-trade, client servicing platforms and new product launches. Own requirements lifecycle: intake, discovery, process mapping, user stories/BRDs/FRDs, acceptance criteria, traceability, and sign-off. Document and analyze front-to-back trading flows across asset classes (e.g., equities, options, fixed income) including order capture, routing, execution, allocations, confirmations, clearing, settlement, and fails management. Document and analyze operational flows including client onboarding, account maintenance, cash/securities movements, corporate actions, reconciliations, margin/stock loan impacts, and exception management. Facilitate workshops with business and technology stakeholders; identify root causes, gaps, controls, and opportunities for automation/straight-through processing (STP). Partner with Product/Engineering to translate requirements into solution designs; support sprint planning, backlog refinement, and prioritization. Define data requirements and validate source-to-target mappings; support data quality checks and reconciliation logic. Support testing: create test scenarios, coordinate UAT, triage defects, validate fixes, and ensure readiness for production release. Develop operating procedures and training materials; support rollout, cutover planning, and production support processes. Collaborate with Compliance/Risk on regulatory-driven initiatives; ensure controls and auditability are embedded in process and system designs. Track risks, issues, and dependencies; provide clear status updates and communicate impacts to timelines and scope. 5+ years of Business Analyst experience within a US broker-dealer, capital markets, or clearing/prime brokerage environment. Demonstrated experience mapping and improving operational/trading flows (front-to back) and technological enhancements in a regulated environment. Strong knowledge of post-trade lifecycle (confirm/affirm, clearing, settlement, breaks/fails) and operational controls. Ability to translate complex business processes into clear requirements, process maps, and testable deliverables. Strong technical knowledge, including: data analysis with SQL; ability to work with APIs/event messages; understanding of system integrations and data models. Hands-on experience in Agile delivery (user stories, sprint ceremonies, UAT) and/or hybrid SDLC. Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Project. Excellent ability to communicate effectively and influence stakeholders across Trading, Operations, and Technology. Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.

SQL proficiency (complex joins, aggregations) and comfort validating data across multiple sources.

Understanding of messaging/integration patterns (e.g., FIX, REST APIs, event-driven architectures) and ability to troubleshoot across systems. Experience working with data warehouses/lakes and BI tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) is a plus. Familiarity with issue tracking and delivery tools (e.g., Jira/Confluence or similar). Ability to read technical documentation (API specs, data dictionaries) and partner effectively with engineers/QA.

Regulatory & Controls Awareness

Working knowledge of broker-dealer control environment (segregation of duties, approvals, supervisory controls, audit trails). Comfort supporting regulatory/compliance initiatives and partnering with Compliance/Risk/Legal on requirements and evidence needs. Familiarity with common US broker-dealer concepts such as best execution, trade reporting, books and records, margin, AML/KYC workflows, and customer account controls (depth depends on assignment).

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with clearing/custody workflows and/or prime brokerage operations. Experience with OMS/EMS platforms and trade capture/booking systems. Exposure to reconciliations (cash/securities), exception management tooling, and controls automation. Background in data governance, lineage, and operational reporting.
