Position Overview The Director of Development plays a key role in advancing inSIGHT Through Education’s fundraising and philanthropic efforts through a combination of donor engagement and institutional giving support. Reporting to the Executive Director, this position is responsible for cultivating and stewarding relationships with individual donors while supporting grant research, writing, and reporting efforts. The Director of Development will contribute to the organization’s overall fundraising strategy and help ensure strong, sustainable support for inSIGHT’s mission.
This role requires regular in‑person donor engagement throughout Broward, Palm Beach, and Martin Counties, as well as occasional evening and weekend availability for events and organizational activities. Additional travel outside the primary service area may be required periodically for conferences, meetings, or organizational representation.
Key Responsibilities Donor Engagement & Fundraising
Manage and steward relationships with individual donors and prospects through cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship activities
Support donor-facing efforts including meetings, events, presentations, and follow‑up communications
Assist in the planning and execution of annual fundraising initiatives and campaigns
Prepare donor communications such as acknowledgments, impact updates, and stewardship materials
Grants & Institutional Giving
Research prospective foundation and corporate funding opportunities
Support the development, writing, and submission of grant proposals and letters of inquiry
Assist with grant tracking, reporting, and compliance requirements
Work with the Director of Education to gather data, outcomes, and organizational information to support grant submissions
Collaboration & Operations
Maintain accurate and up-to-date donor and grant records in the organization’s CRM
Support development reporting and data integrity
Collaborate with lay leaders and members of the Board of Directors on donor engagement and stewardship efforts, as appropriate
Work collaboratively across the organization to support development goals
Participate in organizational planning and coordination meetings, as needed
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required
Minimum of 3‑5 years of experience in nonprofit fundraising or development
Must be based locally in South Florida, with strong familiarity with Broward, Palm Beach, and/or Martin Counties. This role requires approximately 40% of time in the field, engaging with donors and community partners. Existing relationships within the local philanthropic community are strongly preferred.
Ability to travel periodically outside the primary service area, as needed
Reliable transportation required
Experience with individual donor engagement and relationship management
Experience with grant research, writing, and reporting
Demonstrated track record of securing philanthropic support and meeting or exceeding fundraising targets
Self‑starter with the ability to work independently, take initiative, and drive projects forward with minimal supervision
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
Collaborative, professional, and relationship‑oriented
Comfortable working with staff, volunteers, Board members, and organizational leadership
Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends, as needed
