General Function
The Personal Banker I position will provide an exceptional customer experience by cultivating, maintaining, and enhancing long‑lasting relationships with existing and prospective customers. This position is responsible for processing teller transactions as well as working as a member of the platform staff. The banker will help customers understand and address their financial needs, and provide solutions that span across the customer’s lifecycle using a consultative sales and service process. The banker is responsible and accountable for risk, openly exchanging ideas, elevating concerns, and following defined policies and procedures while consistently identifying, assessing, managing, monitoring, and reporting risks.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Create a memorable customer experience by cultivating, maintaining, and enhancing relationships in an assigned book of business through proactive outreach efforts in person, over the phone, or other appropriate channels.
Use a consultative approach with current or prospective customers to uncover and identify their needs while tailoring recommendations, solutions, and advice.
Maintain working knowledge of products, services, and processes offered.
Work collaboratively with internal partners to ensure customers’ needs are met and all problems are resolved.
Analyze customer credit data and related financial information to ensure customers are in the appropriate solutions that align with their needs.
Provide customer support needed to reinforce the value of current and new technology.
Process teller transactions and adhere to balancing guidelines.
Follow the Bancorp Code of Business Conduct and Ethics and other related policies, modeling the ethical behavior expected from every employee.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
High School Diploma/GED with at least 6 months of customer service experience, or a college degree, or equivalent military experience.
Demonstrated ability to develop a comfort level with both new household acquisitions and deepening customer relationships.
Professional communication skills in verbal and written form representing Fifth Third Bank.
Business acumen and sound decision‑making ability.
Requirement to register for the SAFE Act at the time of employment through the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS).
Working Conditions
Normal office environment.

The base salary for this position is reflective of the salary levels for similar roles across the U.S. Individual salaries may vary based on role, skill set, experience, education, and location. In addition to base pay, the role is eligible for an incentive compensation plan tied to company, line of business, and/or individual performance.
