Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Immigration Legal Assistant/Paralegal to support our attorneys in managing a diverse caseload. This role provides significant hands‑on experience and the opportunity to develop advanced skills in immigration law. The position involves direct client interaction, case preparation, and managing filings across a range of matters, including family-based immigration and removal defense. The ideal candidate is highly organized, proactive, and able to manage multiple deadlines in a fast‑paced environment. Fluency in Spanish is required, as this role involves direct communication with Spanish‑speaking clients.
Key Responsibilities
Assist attorneys in preparing and filing immigration applications, petitions, waivers, and court filings
Communicate directly with clients in Spanish and English to gather information and provide case updates
Prepare and accurately complete immigration forms for attorney review
Draft correspondence and supporting documents for attorney approval
Organize and maintain client files with a high level of accuracy and confidentiality
Track case progress, monitor deadlines, and ensure timely filings
Compile and review supporting documentation for completeness and quality
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
Fluent in Spanish (written and verbal), with the ability to communicate directly with clients without supervision
0–2 years of experience in a legal or professional office setting preferred (immigration experience a plus; training provided)
Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to handle multiple deadlines
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
High level of attention to detail and commitment to quality work
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Comfortable working with sensitive and often emotional client matters
Experience with case management systems or legal software is a plus (training provided)
Compensation & Benefits
Salary range: $52,000 – $62,000 (based on experience)
