Communicates and coordinates with clients and consultants (e.g., architects and civil/ mechanical/ electrical/ plumbing engineers) to ensure clear understanding of project goals and expectations Interacts with clients and team members regarding project information Reviews project specifications - including old drawings with site information and city block maps Determines and adheres to appropriate federal/state regulations Designs project layout and details (e.g., utility distribution, flood protection, parking, and traffic flow, etc.) using appropriate design software Spot-checks calculations and back-checks plan mark-ups and completed drafting Guides/assists other designers regarding issues such as codes, deflection criteria, and software Coordinates with city staff in obtaining permits and/or special requests Reviews project proposal and organizes project's work requirements and staffing needs Delegates project work to others (e.g., project team members, CAD operators, contractors) Reviews project status report against budget and schedule Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent 5-7 minimum prior years of related experience Basic drafting/CAD training a plus Strong visual design skills Excellent written and verbal communication Strong organizational skills Ability to build partnerships and work collaboratively with others to meet shared objectives.
