Assistant Director of Extended Day

Position Type Full‑Time
Responsibilities
Hours: 12:00‑6:00 pm, with flexibility as needed.
During the school year and Pegasus summer camp, assume leadership in the absence of the Director of Extended Day, including:
Managing a team of staff members
Ensuring that Extended Day/Enrichment classes and other after‑school activities run smoothly
Managing injuries or illness of children after school
Managing disciplinary problems
Communicating directly with parents
Assist or manage the supervision of the Extended Day staff inside or outside of school premises.
Handle all snack ordering and preparation for students in Grades JK‑4:
Develop snack schedule respecting allergies and age appropriateness
Order snacks with Food Service staff
Prepare and store snacks for the day
Manage student groups during Extended Day, ensuring engagement, behavior management, and homework support when necessary.
Assist in supervising MS students, including receiving parent texts and maintaining presence during Holiday Camp days.
Support the Director of Extended Day in tasks such as gathering lunch money, leading field trips, planning activities, and greeting parents.
Other duties may include creating daily and special programming, managing attendance, preparing rosters, and maintaining iPad or attendance sheets.
Additional projects and duties assigned by leadership.
Qualifications
Ability to work well with diverse patrons ages preschool to middle school.
Prior experience in education required; experience in after‑school programs preferred.
Ability to work effectively under pressure with limited supervision.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated organizational and leadership skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft and Google applications.
Associate degree required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Preferred: extracurricular school programming or related experience.
Other Information
Criminal history and background check required.
Summer availability necessary.
Standard office conditions and climate.
Work at desk and computer for extended periods.
Work intermittently outdoors, extreme heat or cold.
Requires standing, walking, sitting, talking, hearing.
Must regularly lift more than 20 lb and handle various physical tasks.
Vision requirements: close vision and focus adjustment.
Transportation to meetings, workshops, conferences required.
