Internal Communications Specialist

Position Overview The Office of Online Education Marketing and Strategy is looking for a communications professional to serve as a Marketing and Communications Specialist for Penn State Online Education and World Campus. The role will manage internal communications content delivered through emails, newsletters, intranets, and webinar facilitation, supporting organizational culture goals, strategic planning, and engagement across staff and support units.

Reporting & Responsibilities Reporting to the Director of Content and Communications Strategy at Penn State World Campus, the Marketing and Communications Specialist will coordinate editorial oversight and production of internal communications, manage strategic and execution-level tasks, and implement multi-faceted marketing and communications strategies.

The position will proactively work with World Campus teams to understand priorities, translate them into communication plans, and collaborate with fellow communications staff on the publication of newsletters, webinars, news releases, and intranet content highlighting unit activities to support administrative and institutional communications priorities.

Qualifications Minimum: Bachelor’s Degree and 3+ years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. No required certifications.

Record of accomplishment in a fast‑paced, highly collaborative, and challenging environment.

Exceptional editorial attention to detail and data accuracy, with proven experience in client management and diplomacy.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, team‑building and cross‑functional collaboration skills, and a proven ability to adapt content to different marketing platforms.

Strong understanding of Office365, especially SharePoint, webinar tools (Zoom), and work‑management systems.

Experience with multimedia content development and curation, Salesforce, and email marketing solutions (Constant Contact) is highly valued.

Background Checks Employment requires successful completion of background check(s) in accordance with University policies.

Salary & Benefits Salary range: $51,000.00 – $74,000.00. Salary structure information is available on Penn State’s website.
