Job Summary The Intern – Real Estate will provide support for our Real Estate Department in a fast‑paced business environment. This paid internship allows up to 20 hours per week during the school year and up to 40 hours per week during the summer months.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Assist Real Estate team to manage railroad projects and ensure compliance with railroad policies, operating procedures, and agreement terms
Provide support to real estate specialists in the management and review of utility, rights of entry, and environmental rights of entry applications and contracts
Draft standard form agreements, assignments, permits, and licenses
Review and organize documents in electronic repositories
Verify the accuracy and completeness of records and client files
Research and respond to federal, state, municipal, and private company notices impacting client property
Use electronic communications, including e‑mail and text, as well as standard office applications (Microsoft Office Suite)
Demonstrate advanced oral and written communication skills
Lead project meetings and deliver presentations
Represent the organization and maintain liaison with related individuals and organizations
Contribute to a positive, inclusive, and respectful workplace culture
Uphold the organization’s standards of integrity, accountability, and respect in all duties and interactions
Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and applicable laws and regulations
Other duties as assigned or required to meet the business needs

Manage and oversee the entire scope of assigned projects
Plan, work and market collaboratively, create budget proposals, manage an opportunity pipeline, conduct training, and perform client presentations
Interpret engineering drawings, land surveys, and legal descriptions; understand eminent domain and real estate appraisal methodology
Proficiency with electronic communications (e‑mail, text) and standard office applications (Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook, Excel, Word)
Required Education and Experience
High School Diploma or equivalent
College credits equivalent to one (1) year or more toward an undergraduate degree in Real Estate, Finance, Accounting, Business, Computer Science, Economics, or another analytical field
Authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship
Preferred Education and Experience
GPA of 3.0 or higher (transcripts required)
Advanced analytical skills, including demonstrated ability to analyze real estate and legal issues
Advanced interpersonal skills and ability to develop good working relationships
