Seasonal Camp Photographer

Position Overview Seasonal part-time, $16.00 an hour. Paid time off. Free museum passes and discounts.

The purpose of this position is to provide prompt, thorough photographic services to Space Camp attendees, documenting the day‑to‑day camp experience, and to provide a comprehensive picture package to trainees and their parents. Space Camp photographers will be engaged in a variety of photographic assignments including action, candid, natural and artificial light photography, portraiture, among others.

Responsibilities

Photograph camp attendees to document the authentic camp experience both indoors and outdoors in a variety of conditions.

Follow photography assignments provided by camp photography leadership thoroughly with an eye for detail and organization.

Determine the correct settings for equipment in manual camera mode.

Operate and maintain equipment such as cameras, flashes, lenses, and any other auxiliary equipment designated to complete photo tasks.

Clean and maintain camera equipment.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Level of supervision: None.

Travel Required

Qualifications Required Education

High school or G.E.D.

Required Experience

6-12 months experience in a photography environment or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment, detail‑oriented, well‑organized, professional, and able to work with minimal supervision.

Excellent customer service skills.

Technical Experience

Working knowledge of digital camera systems (Sony mirrorless preferred), various lenses, and lighting equipment.

Understanding of the fundamentals of manual camera settings for a variety of photographic situations, including action, low‑light, and full sun.

Physical Requirements

Walking and climbing (stairs) to access other departments and buildings.

Standing for long periods (4-6 hours).

Carrying and lifting supplies and boxes up to 25 pounds to waist height.

Bending, kneeling, reaching to store & retrieve supplies.

Sight, reading, wrist movements, feeling to operate computer terminal, handle documents and sort mail.

Talking and hearing to communicate with supervisor(s), employees, guests, and trainees.

Eligibility Qualifications

Authorized to work in the United States.

Expected Hours Of Work

First Shift: Monday–Friday 7:00 am–3:00 pm.

Second Shift: Monday–Friday 2:30 pm–11:00 pm.

Weekend: Friday–Saturday 7:00 am–10:00 pm.

Evening and weekend availability is preferred.
