Survey Crew Member I, Austin, TX
Halff is currently seeking a Survey Crew Member to join our Austin, TX office. This entry-level role involves working outdoors in support of a Land Survey crew. Prior survey experience is a plus, but not required. The typical work schedule is Monday through Friday with a 6:30 a.m. start time. This position includes overtime and travel assignments of up to two weeks at a time. What you will do:
Operate robotic, conventional, and GPS survey equipment to accurately collect topographic features and boundary evidence for land development, route, utility, and other surveying projects.
Support the Party Chief with land development, boundary, design, topographic, and ALTA surveys.
Ensure accuracy, precision, and quality in all field data collection activities.
Follow written and verbal instructions from the Party Chief and project leadership.
Safely carry, set up, and maintain tripods, rods, prisms, and other survey tools.
Load, unload, and properly store survey equipment and vehicles.
Clear lines, mark points, and drive stakes as directed.
Record and verify field measurements under supervision.
Maintain organized field equipment, tools, and supplies.
Adhere to Halff's safety standards and field safety procedures at all times.
Perform physically demanding work, including lifting up to 50 pounds and standing or walking for extended periods.
What you will need:
0 - 2 years of experience as a Survey Instrument Operator is preferred (land development, boundary, design, topographic, and ALTA surveys), but not required.
High School Diploma or GED.
Able and willing to work Monday through Friday, with a 6:30 a.m. start time, out of our Austin, TX office location.
Valid driver's license with the ability to safely operate company vehicles and equipment.
Ability to work outdoors in varying and extreme weather conditions, including heat and cold.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work on your feet for extended periods.
Strong attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy and quality.Ability to follow instructions delivered verbally, in writing, or through other communication methods.
Dependable, disciplined, and punctual with a strong sense of responsibility.
Willingness to work overtime and occasional weekends to meet project deadlines.Ability to travel up to 50% as needed.
Ability to pass a drug and background screening.
Ability to work cooperatively in a team-oriented environment.
Manual dexterity to operate instruments, hand tools, stakes, and field documentation.
