
FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST.

Duties
Serves as an expert on financial management operations.
Provides support to the Agency Fraud Risk Officer and participates in fraud risk management planning and development.
Analyzes policy changes to regulations directing key financial processes and assesses the impact on auditable processes, identifying potential policy, procedural, or system weaknesses.
Assists the Agency’s Fraud Officer in preparing, reviewing, analyzing, and coordinating fraud reporting requirements, records, and reports to identify regulatory problems or inconsistencies in DFAS execution.
Requirements
Must be a U.S. Citizen or National.
This national‑security position may require access to classified information and requires a favorable suitability review and security clearance as a condition of employment. Failure to maintain security eligibility may result in termination.
Registered for Selective Service (males born after 12‑31‑1959).
Suitable for federal employment.
Must have served three months after the most recent competitive appointment in the federal service.
Time‑in‑grade requirement – see the Qualifications field below for details.
Obtain and maintain the required financial management certification.
New employees must successfully pass the E‑Verify employment verification check.
Qualifications
One year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to GS‑11, demonstrating the ability to perform the duties of this position.
Strong analytical and problem‑solving capabilities, including the ability to analyze complex datasets and extract actionable insights to support strategic decision‑making.
Demonstrated expertise in developing, presenting, and managing budget cycles from inception through completion.
Proficiency in utilizing financial management methodologies, best practices, and core principles to design and execute process enhancements for enterprise‑level accounting and financial systems.
Current or former federal employees who have held a GS position in the preceding 52 weeks must meet the time‑in‑grade requirement (52 weeks as a GS‑11 or higher). The effective date of your SF‑50 must reflect that you will meet the 52‑week requirement within 30 days of the announcement closing.

Travel requirement is typically 1–24%.
