What You Will Do The primary focus of this role is to accomplish a broad range of basic business support services tasks. Focus may be on one or more basic tasks, with some ability to prioritize work or choose from a number of known options to solve basic problems or complete tasks. Decision making is closely guided by guidelines and/or incumbents have immediate access to guidance or supervision. Communication may be verbal or written but typically involves the relay of basic facts and use of predetermined content with minor modification, forms, or protocol. No formal supervision is exercised by this position; however, the role may be required to provide basic guidance to junior employees. The impact of the role is typically confined to the immediate work unit and may result in delays in processing business support tasks.

0–2 years’ experience in related field.
Basic knowledge and skills in customer service and credit/collections.
Basic computer knowledge and skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Ability to use hand tools such as a meter key and adjustable wrench.
Basic troubleshooting, problem‑solving, and mathematical skills for reviewing customer accounts.
Basic ability to use mapping technologies and navigate in various territories, including basic knowledge of the assigned area and surrounding towns.
Ability to retain knowledge of company’s credit policies and North Carolina Utilities Commission rules and regulations.
Basic verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills to communicate with customers in an effective and professional manner.
Ability to effectively read gas meters, and properly research and record meter and account information on a computer.
Ability to work independently and as part of a diverse team.
Ability to frequently travel to customers’ premises, where encounters with agitated customers or dogs and other animals may occur.
Ability to balance and prioritize workload based on the time of year.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience
A demonstrated knowledge of safety procedures.
A good mechanical aptitude.
A demonstrated ability to use and comprehend mathematical calculations and formulas.
Bilingual (Spanish) candidates.
Working Conditions Work is performed at customers’ premises, as well as outside in varying weather conditions (cold, heat, rain, etc.).
Physical Requirements Balancing, bending, stooping, climbing, crawling, carrying (up to 80 pounds), grasping, kneeling, lifting (objects up to 80 pounds), pulling hand over hand, pushing, reaching above shoulder, repetitive motion, sitting, standing, walking, visual requirement (able to see screens, detect color coding, read fine print), hearing requirement. Light–moderate lifting (objects up to 80 pounds).
