A job with Student Life Communications and Marketing provides students the opportunity to work in an agency-like atmosphere where creative problem‑solving and collaboration with colleagues lead to the development of effective strategies to build awareness, engagement, and action from target audiences. All Student Life Communications and Marketing staff will contribute to the creation, implementation, and assessment of various marketing and communications initiatives.
Responsibilities
Writes effective copy based on goals of a project, audience, and other factors, using the appropriate tone and word choice.
Develops copy for various platforms (websites, social media, advertising, calendars, etc.) in a timely manner.
Reviews and rewrites copy on many platforms to ensure writing is more effective, brief when necessary, and without mistakes (spelling, grammar, punctuation, accuracy of information, etc.).
Double checks copy on projects before they are launched.
Collaborates with graphic designers to effectively blend copy and design into effective marketing and communications.
Writes and sets up email newsletters on the Salesforce Marketing Cloud platform.
Writes longer‑form articles and blog posts.
Manages websites, signage, social media captions, videos and closed captioning, ad brochures, and more.
Works closely with graphic designers, photographers, videographers, social media coordinators, and campus partners to create these necessary campaigns.
Works closely with various members of the marketing team and professional staff/clients from around the Office of Student Life.
Participates in various meetings, workshops, critiques, and brainstorming sessions as necessary with members of Student Life Communications and Marketing.
Education Required: Currently enrolled as a student with Indiana University.

Position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment.
Must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.
Work Study & Location This role is work‑study eligible. It is an in‑person position located in Bloomington, Indiana.
Compensation $15.00 per hour. 10‑12 hours per week, flexible schedule based on availability.
