
Senior Specialist Underwriting Operations - Environmental

The Opportunity
The Underwriting Assistant supports the Environmental Underwriting team by managing policy processing, data accuracy, and administrative workflows across the underwriting lifecycle. This role enables underwriters to focus on risk analysis by handling submissions, documentation, system entry, and broker coordination for environmental insurance products. Attention to detail, strong organization, and comfort working with complex environmental risk information are critical for success.
Location & Work Arrangement
Location: Florida or New York
Work Arrangement: Hybrid or remote work environment, depending on organizational structure
Salary Range: $64,000–$105,500
Your New Role
Support new business, renewals, endorsements, and policy changes for Environmental underwriting accounts
Prepare and issue quotes, binders, endorsements, policies, and related documentation
Enter, validate, and maintain policy and exposure data in underwriting and policy administration systems
Track submission progress and follow up with brokers and internal teams to ensure timely processing
Operational & Administrative Support
Maintain accurate electronic underwriting files in accordance with audit and compliance standards
Coordinate with Operations, Finance, Claims, and Compliance teams to resolve data or documentation issues
Assist with premium processing, invoicing coordination, and issuance timelines
Respond to broker inquiries regarding policy status and documentation
Quality & Compliance
Ensure underwriting files meet internal quality control and regulatory requirements
Support audits, reporting requests, and data quality initiatives
Identify process improvement opportunities within underwriting workflows
Preferred Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent; Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred
Insurance, underwriting support, or policy administration experience
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Preferred Competencies
Experience in underwriting operations
Experience in the insurance industry
Experience with commercial lines or environmental insurance products
Familiarity with underwriting or policy administration systems
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Compensation Package Salary range: $64,000–$105,500. The salary offer will be decided based on the role’s complexity, its location, and the candidate’s professional background, including education and experience. Beyond the base salary, full‑time employees will also be eligible for QBE’s annual discretionary bonus plan based on business and individual performance.
