The Impact You Will Have
As Director of Public Policy, you will lead the development and integration of enterprise policy strategy across state and federal legislative, regulatory, and stakeholder environments. You will shape and advance the organization's policy platform, align advocacy and civic engagement efforts, and ensure consistent positioning across internal and external audiences. This role serves as a key strategic advisor to senior leadership, translating complex policy and regulatory developments into clear enterprise direction, while coordinating closely across the enterprise to manage regulatory and reputational risk. You will represent the organization in high-visibility forums and strengthen our position as a trusted, influential voice in healthcare policy at the state and national level.
Your Responsibilities
Enterprise Policy Strategy & Integration
Lead development and execution of the enterprise Policy Platform, aligning with organizational priorities and mission.
Integrate state and federal legislative, and regulatory strategy into a cohesive policy approach.
Translate complex policy and regulatory developments into actionable enterprise insights and positioning.
Advocacy & Civic Engagement Leadership
Oversee strategic alignment of advocacy efforts, including leadership of CitizenBlue, as a policy amplification platform.
Guide development of advocacy materials and messaging to support enterprise priorities.
Strengthen external positioning through thought leadership and participation in key forums.
Regulatory Coordination & Risk Advisory
Coordinate regulatory and rulemaking advocacy strategy.
Analyze and interpret state and federal legislative and regulatory developments, advising leadership on implications and strategic response.
Ensure proactive identification and management of regulatory and reputational risk.
Stakeholder Engagement & Influence
Build and maintain strong relationships with regulators, policymakers, trade associations, and community stakeholders.
Represent the organization in regulatory, legislative, and administrative settings, including national forums such as NAIC.
Advance the organization's influence as a leader in healthcare policy.
Leadership & Team Development
Lead and develop policy team members.
Foster cross-functional collaboration across the enterprise.
Ensure alignment and consistency in policy messaging across Board, executive, and external presentations.
Required Skills and Experience
7+ years of relevant experience in public policy, public affairs, healthcare policy, or related field, with 5+ years of leadership experience. All relevant experience including work, education, transferable skills, and military experience will be considered.
Demonstrated ability to develop and execute policy strategy in a complex regulatory and political environment.
Strong understanding of legislative and regulatory processes, with the ability to translate technical policy into strategic direction.
Experience engaging with policymakers, regulators, and industry stakeholders.
Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and influence at senior levels of the organization.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including development of executive-level materials.
High school diploma (or equivalency) and legal authorization to work in the U.S.

Preferred Skills and Experience
Bachelor's Degree and/or equivalent experience. Master's Degree preferred.
Compensation and Benefits
Pay Range: $135,500.00 - $182,900.00 - $230,300.00 Annual
Pay is based on several factors which vary based on position, including skills, ability, and knowledge the selected individual is bringing to the specific job.
