
Associate Director, Advancement Communication

The Associate Director, Advancement Communications will report to the Director of Advancement Communications and support the marketing development needs of the Office of Academy Resources (OAR). The Associate Director will serve as a copywriter and editor, and as a strategist and project manager, whose portfolio includes Donor Relations, Advancement Initiatives (Museums and Outreach), and other philanthropic priorities, such as the Andover Women’s Endeavor and fundraising needs that emerge from the Academy’s long-range plan. The Associate Director will play a critical role in Advancement Communications and as a member of the greater Office of Communication team. The individual will work collaboratively with graphic designers, photographers, campus clients, and outside vendors.
Responsibilities
Manage partnerships between Advancement Communications and key clients in OAR, including Stewardship/Donor Relations and Advancement Initiatives.
Create annual communications strategies and produce print and digital appeals and solutions for the fundraising and development goals of these clients, which includes but is not exclusive to the Thomas Cochran Society, the Andover Endowment, scholarship reporting and stewardship, the Addison Gallery of American Art, the Peabody Institute of Archaeology, Andover Bread Loaf, the Institute for Recruitment of Teachers, (MS)2, PALS, and Musical Minds.
Partner with the Directors of Academy Advancement, Donor Relations, and Major Giving on top-tier projects, such as the Andover Women’s Endeavor, the Future of the Endowment Conference, and new fundraising initiatives, including those that emerge from the Academy’s long-range plan.
Write regular features in ASPIRE, the flagship philanthropy publication of the Academy, and Andover magazine.
Edit and proofread all external fundraising communications, including regular Andover Fund and Family Giving solicitations, PA Giving Day and other broad-based campaigns, and Advancement-related messages from the Head of School.
Build email appeals, edit web content, and post on social media as part of implementing comprehensive strategic solutions.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree and 10+ years of professional writing and editorial experience, preferably in a higher education or private school setting.
A background in development/advancement, fundraising, and/or stewardship is preferred.
Experience working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven, and detail-oriented environment.
Ability to deftly partner with multiple clients in an agency-based structure.
Familiarity with multiple image editing, web, social media, and email platforms and/or the desire to learn.
This is a hybrid position (in office three days per week) that will begin July 2026.
