Senior Director, Sustainability Strategy

will own the development and execution of Arcwood's sustainability strategy, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements, investor reporting expectations, customer commitments, and broader ESG objectives. Reporting directly to the Chief Communications & Sustainability Officer, this role will work across departments to align data, systems, and priorities to drive measurable progress toward sustainability goals and embed strategy into operational decision-making. This role requires strong experience in strategy development and operationalization, collaboration with cross-functional teams, and the ability to translate sustainability frameworks into actionable business targets, using metrics and reporting frameworks to drive outcomes tied to business performance. Sustainability Strategy & Implementation

Leads the refinement, development and implementation of Arcwood's sustainability strategy and long-term goals (e.g., climate, resource management, circularity, regulatory compliance). Translates high-level sustainability ambitions into actionable programs and KPIs across operations, service lines and corporate functions. Coordinates cross-functional teams to integrate sustainability practices into decision-making across the organization. Data Reporting & Compliance

Builds on the work of a double-materiality assessment and business strategy planning. Establishes and oversees systems to collect, validate, and manage sustainability and ESG data, enabling reliable reporting for regulatory, customer and investor audiences. Leads preparation of external sustainability disclosures (e.g., CDP, GRI/SASB, TCFD, and other frameworks as relevant). Partners with public affairs to monitor and interpret evolving sustainability regulations and reporting requirements; integrates findings into strategy and execution plans. Cross-Functional Leadership

Serves as a strategic partner to Operations, Finance, Commercial, Legal, Communications/Marketing and IT teams to ensure cohesive execution of sustainability initiatives. Champions sustainability literacy across departments, driving accountability, ownership, and alignment with corporate goals. Stakeholder Engagement

Engages with internal and external stakeholders including investors (notably private equity partners like EQT), customers, regulators and industry groups to represent Arcwood's sustainability priorities and progress. Supports investment and due-diligence processes with sustainability insights and risk assessments where applicable. Provides support for customer requests and reporting requirements as needed. Continuous Improvement & Innovation

Benchmarks best practices in sustainability from peers and industry leaders to drive continuous improvement in Arcwood's ESG performance. Identifies tools, technology and process improvements to scale sustainability operations and reporting. Prioritizes health and safety by adhering to policies and maintaining safe practices at all times. Takes on additional duties as assigned to support the team and organization. Education

Bachelor’s degree in sustainability, environmental science, engineering, business or related field (required) Master’s degree (preferred) Experience

10+ years of progressive experience in sustainability strategy, ESG or related leadership roles within environmental services, industrial services or similar sectors (required) Demonstrated experience developing and operationalizing sustainability strategies at a corporate or business unit level (required) Experience working with sustainability reporting platforms and frameworks e.g. CDP, GRI, SASB, TCFD (required) Experience working for an environmental services provider, waste management, utilities or sustainability consulting firm (preferred) Benefits, Compensation & Workforce Diversity
