Contract Instructional Designer

This is a temporary work assignment for the rest of 2026, we are looking for an Instructional Designer with financial industry experience to work hybrid, Monday through Friday, 40 hours a week. Must live within the Pleasanton, CA area or willing to commute to the Credit Union on a weekly basis.

Role Designs and develops training programs, curriculum, methods and materials for various audiences. Conducts skill assessments and collects input to identify training or development needs, goals, gaps, and appropriate course content and training curriculum. Develops training and resources to support strategic initiatives and defined credit union competencies. Establishes metrics to evaluate training effectiveness. Conducts evaluations to measure training effectiveness. Collaborate with business partners and vendors to provide training and materials to support new initiatives, processes, and systems. Performs research, updates, maintenance, troubleshooting and educating our employees on our various knowledgebase and core operating systems.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

40% Designs, develops, and evaluates training materials, training classes, and training procedures. This includes the design and production of ecourses and media related training with minimal supervision.

20% Creates and implements the training plan for various programs, curriculum, and projects. Determines appropriate method, resources, and assessments to support prescribed training needs.

10% Work with business partners and classroom facilitators to ensure materials are sufficient, well received, and up-to-date.

10% Responsible for conducting new product, system, or procedure training. Back-up instructor for all department training courses including new employee, sales, technical, and on the job training. May include use of computers and software. May conduct training that is technical in nature as well as soft skills training.

10% Tracks the progress of trainees through routine tests, observation, and feedback from supervisors; evaluates the effectiveness of the current training.

5% Completes required reports and documents; attends meetings as required. Supports BVS training administration.

5% Performs other job related duties as assigned.

Performance Measurements

Carry out assigned responsibilities with minimal errors according to established department standards.

Achieve an 85% or better score from employee testing following completion of all formal employee training programs, and a 75% or better retention rating (re-test) 30 days following the training.

Meet all training objectives and goals established for the year.

Maintain a basic understanding of Credit Union products, services, policies and procedures, as well an understanding of the Credit Union's Mission and Core Values.

Complete reports and records accurately and in a timely manner.

Identify any problems in training effectiveness and update courses and materials as appropriate to resolve them.

Provide informed, professional and accurate service and support to all members and associates.

Knowledge and Skills

Experience:

Three years to five years of similar or related experience.

Education:

(1) A bachelor's degree, or (2) achievement of formal certifications recognized in the industry as equivalent to a bachelor's degree (e.g., information technology certifications in lieu of a degree).

Interpersonal Skills:

Work involves extensive personal contact with others and is of a personal or sensitive nature. Motivating, influencing, and/or training others is key at this level. Outside contacts become important and fostering sound relationships with other entities (companies and/or individuals) becomes necessary and often requires the ability to influence and/or sell ideas or services to others.

Other Skills:

Must possess excellent communication skills (written, verbal, non-verbal). Comfort with public speaking/making presentations. Familiarity with a variety of software systems (including Microsoft Suite) as well as internal computer systems and applications. Must be able to operate computer software and business equipment. Ability to prioritize work assignments and meet established deadlines. Professionalism in appearance, dress, and attitude is a must. Ability to travel to offsite destinations as needed. Clean driving record.

Work Environment Typical office environment. Hybrid schedule option is available for this position.
