Job Description Aerolab is seeking a qualified candidate to fill a Junior Architectural Designer position. The position is full-time. The candidate will be responsible for supporting the design and engineering team with design development as well as the production and management of coordination and construction documents.
Duties & Responsibilities
Proper interpretation of design specifications, drawings, and schematics from a broad range of disciplines including architectural, structural, electrical, and mechanical
Produce drawings for schematic design, design development, and construction document phases illustrating architectural elements, structural elements, and elements from other disciplines, where applicable.
Produce drawings, schematics, submittals, and reports
Issue and respond to RFIs
Travel to project sites when required to evaluate structures and coordinate with facility engineering teams
Participate in coordination meetings with internal and external engineering teams related to ongoing projects
Function as part of a Product Design Team following the guidance provided by design and project engineers.
Required Skills
Experience with CAD and BIM software including AutoCAD and Revit
Experience with SolidWorks CAD software is strongly preferred but not required
Experience in computer aided drafting techniques and standard engineering practices
Experience with construction and design management platforms including Procore and Bluebeam
Familiarity with engineering terminology
Familiarity with building codes and applicable building standards
Proficient in use of Microsoft Office and Word Processing software
Good time management skills, high work ethics
Positive contributor to team participation
Focused, methodical with good analytical skills
Ability to handle multiple activities to meet target dates
Able to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos
Good communication skills and ability to work in teams
Education & Experience
4 Year degree Engineering or Engineering Technology degree from an ABET-accredited program
1+ years of relevant work experience
Location & Travel
The position is based at Aerolab’s main facility in Jessup MD
Occasional offsite travel to customer sites may be required
