Collections Specialist

HealthBay is a leading healthcare company that provides high-quality medical services to individuals and families in the community. We are currently seeking a motivated and experienced Collections Specialist to join our team on a full-time basis.
As a Collections Specialist, you will be responsible for managing and collecting outstanding payments from patients and insurance companies. Your main goal will be to ensure timely and accurate payment of all outstanding balances, while maintaining positive relationships with patients and insurance providers.
Key Responsibilities:
Contact patients and insurance companies to follow up on outstanding payments
Review and analyze patient accounts to identify delinquent accounts and develop a plan for collection
Negotiate payment plans and settlements with patients and insurance companies
Prepare and send out collection letters and statements to patients
Record and update all collection activities in the systemWork closely with the billing and coding team to resolve any billing discrepancies
Provide excellent customer service to patients and insurance providers regarding billing inquiries and disputes
Stay up-to-date with industry regulations and changes in insurance policies to ensure compliance in collection practices
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent, with a degree in Business Administration or related field preferred
Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical collections, preferably in a healthcare setting
Strong knowledge of medical billing and coding procedures
Familiarity with insurance policies and procedures
Excellent communication and negotiation skills
Ability to work independently and in a team environment
Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask
Proficient in using Microsoft Office and other relevant software
Knowledge of medical billing software is a plus
