A well-established property and casualty insurance organization is seeking an underwriter to lead underwriting strategy, operational excellence, and portfolio performance within its homeowners business. This role is critical in shaping underwriting discipline, enhancing decision quality, and driving profitable growth in a dynamic and evolving market. The position offers the opportunity to influence both strategic direction and day-to-day execution while developing a high-performing underwriting team.
Responsibilities Lead underwriting strategy and portfolio management, ensuring alignment with risk appetite, profitability goals, and regulatory requirements. Establish and refine underwriting policies, procedures, and controls to drive consistency, compliance, and operational efficiency. Develop and mentor underwriting talent while partnering cross-functionally with claims, risk, finance, product, and distribution teams to support enterprise objectives.
Qualifications 10+ years of underwriting experience in property lines (preferably homeowners), including 5+ years in a leadership role. Demonstrated experience building underwriting frameworks, improving decision quality, and managing portfolio performance in a data-driven environment. Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements and market dynamics, with a bachelor’s degree required and industry designations (e.g., CPCU, ARM, AU) preferred.
