POSITION SUMMARY

The Executive Director of the Institute Business & Innovation Academy is the creator, executor and leader of all K-12 programming at Golisano Institute for Business & Entrepreneurship. The position requires an entrepreneurial mindset, curriculum and credential building skills, networking and sales skills, and resourcefulness to build a world-class, relevant, business program designed to elevate business awareness and preparation for secondary schools and students.

Reporting to the president and leadership in Academic Affairs, the Executive Director will identify opportunities to provide workshops, programs, and camps that meet the needs of secondary school learners and then package them and deliver them. The position and investment in the Institute Business & Innovation Academy will be a driving force behind the vision of escalating business, AI, and innovation in the Western New York mindset of young people. Moreover, this position will evangelize future-forward business to secondary school students, so they become inspired and motivated to enter the business world.

This role requires collaboration across locations with a diverse community of students, colleagues, and external partners. The successful candidate will demonstrate sound judgment and professionalism that contributes to the Institute culture and models ideal behaviors and attitudes for students.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

RESPONSIBILITIES (ESTIMATED% OF TIME)

Build Calendar & Program (60%) : In partnership with Institute colleagues, and external resources, build the program calendar and engagements that include topics, timeframes, P & L expectations, instructors, and assessment mechanisms.

Offsite Workshops & Master Classes (15%):

With colleagues, deliver masterclasses on topics such as business, future of work, future of work with AI and other focus areas that spotlight the Institute and provide value to K12 system.

Business Development & Custom Programming (15%):

Work with secondary administrators and teachers and offer custom business experiences. Similar to onsite programming, this may include leveraging external resources to deliver high-quality experiences.

Other Institutional Contributions (10%):

Support work in development, recruiting, teaching, and other areas that leverage the candidate’s skills.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION

EXPERIENCE

A minimum of the following experience in higher education and/or K-12 setting: Five years in leadership and/or management leading measured performance in student learning, enrollment, and/or career outcomes. Experience interfacing with c-level stakeholders, administrators, teachers, and students to drive learning and outcomes. Successful experience with education program development including conceptualization, creation, production, and assessment.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Must be able to travel between Buffalo and Rochester, as needed, for work-related activities.
