Artistic & Executive Director

The Artistic/Executive Director provides the artistic vision of The Girl Choir of South Florida and is responsible for the overall leadership, planning, and management of all artistic programming and administrative operations of the organization. These responsibilities require the successful execution of and accountability to the organization’s mission and strategic plan set by the Board of Trustees. While teaching and conducting are obviously performed in-person, the majority of the administrative aspects of the role can be completed remotely if preferred. Music Education and Concert Planning

Serve as a model teacher-conductor who inspires students to work towards musical excellence in weekly rehearsals and performances

Set curriculum and standards for choir levels and select appropriate repertoire in collaboration with the artistic staff

Plan and execute musically excellent concerts that further the organization’s mission, enriching both the choristers on stage and listeners in the audience

Supervise all rehearsals, concerts, recordings, and educational activities

Management and Operations

Recruit and train volunteers, coordinating their efforts in conjunction with staff

Hire, support, and evaluate all staff to achieve the organization’s goals and objectives

Serve as initial point of contact for all staff to the board, relaying their concerns, issues, questions, and other comments

Attend all monthly board meetings, presenting reports regarding the status of all programs and projects and answering questions from the Board of Trustees

Oversee short- and long-range planning; engage Board and staff in periodic planning sessions

PR/Marketing and Recruitment

Select high-quality community events and venues that elevate the organization’s profile and offer a good experience for the choristers and families

Act as spokesperson for the organization and participate in external events to increase the organization’s visibility, credibility, and brand awareness

Develop strategic partnerships with local, national, and international arts organizations, education institutions, businesses, foundations, government agencies, and other applicable not-for-profit and corporate entities.

Supervise the development and implementation of marketing campaigns, programs, events, and outreach

Oversee all external communications, including website, marketing materials, newsletters, and social media

Financial Planning and Development

Develop an annual budget and business plan in coordination with the Board Treasurer

Ensure sound business practices and approve expenditures within the authority delegated by the Board

Oversee grant applications and reports, coordinating with staff and grant writer

Foster relationships with choristers and families, Board members, and donors, cultivating, soliciting, and honoring their support

Organize and oversee fundraising efforts
