Leadership Giving Officer, Mid-Atlantic

Job Summary The Leadership Giving Officer (LGO) will develop and implement comprehensive development plans to raise awareness, strengthen relationships, and secure philanthropic support for Brown’s initiatives and academic programs. The LGO manages a portfolio of 200–225 prospects rated in the $50,000–$250,000+ range and aims to raise $500,000–$1,000,000 annually.

Key Responsibilities

Qualify and cultivate prospects/donors to achieve their initial annual, leadership, or major gift.

Solicit annual gifts from the prospect pool and close at least two planned gifts each year.

Collaborate with colleagues, peers, and fundraising unit managers across diverse programs.

Staff University administrators and faculty on development visits with prospects and donors.

Record activities, contacts, proposals, and strategic plans in the donor database.

Serve as a University representative and liaison between the Division of Advancement and Brown’s alumni, parents, and friends.

Operate within the Washington, DC‑Mid‑Atlantic region portfolio and reside in the Providence, RI area.

Travel frequently across the United States and attend relevant events.

Work occasional evenings and weekends as required.

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education and experience.

Minimum of 4 years of professional experience in fundraising, higher education nonprofit, sales, customer service, or volunteer management.

Minimum of 2 years of direct development experience with solicitation and gift closure.

Brown development experience and strong knowledge of Brown University are preferred.

Strong judgment and discretion for handling confidential information.

Proficient with email, calendars, Windows environment, Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, donor databases.

Decisive, trustworthy, creative, and committed to teamwork.
