We are seeking a strategic and hands‑on
Director of Finance
to lead the financial operations of a growing professional services firm. This is a high‑impact leadership role partnering closely with firm leadership to drive financial performance, profitability, and long‑term growth.
Key Responsibilities Financial Strategy & Leadership
Develop and execute the firm’s financial strategy aligned with business objectives
Advise leadership on financial planning, profitability, and growth opportunities
Deliver financial insights and analysis to support strategic decision‑making
Prepare and present financial reports to partners and the Executive Committee
Oversee accounting operations, financial reporting, and internal controls
Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling processes
Monitor profitability across practice groups, offices, and client matters
Manage cash flow and capital planning
Partner Compensation & Profit Distribution
Analyze partner productivity, origination credit, and profitability metrics
Coordinate annual profit distributions and capital contributions
Law Firm Financial Operations
Oversee billing, collections, and trust accounting processes
Ensure compliance with legal industry financial regulations and standards
Improve billing realization and collection rates
Maintain strong internal controls and risk management processes
Ensure compliance with tax, audit, insurance, and retirement plan requirements
Manage relationships with auditors, banks, and financial advisors
Lead and develop finance, accounting, and HR teams
Implement systems and processes to enhance financial efficiency and reporting
Collaborate cross‑functionally with IT and operations
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration required
CPA strongly preferred; MBA or CFA a plus
5–7+ years of progressive financial leadership experience
Experience in a law firm or professional services environment strongly preferred
Key Skills
Strong financial strategy and analytical capabilities
Knowledge of legal billing structures and trust accounting
Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
