As a Brand Technical Specialist for Confluent within IBM’s Data Platform, you will act as a technical consultant to IBM clients and sellers by architecting solutions and delivering Proofs of Technology. In this role, you will utilize your technical expertise to drive business growth through effective solution delivery and client‑facing interactions.
Responsibilities
Design solution architectures: Architect event‑driven solutions for IBM clients and sellers to meet their specific business needs and drive growth.
Deliver proofs of technology: Demonstrate capabilities and value to clients through proven use‑cases.
Collaborate with clients and sellers: Work closely with clients and sellers to understand their technical requirements and provide guidance.
Develop technical strategies: Create strategies for product implementation, leveraging your expertise in Apache Kafka, Flink and related Confluent capabilities.
Optimize solution delivery: Improve delivery methodologies to ensure timely and effective deployment.
Required Education
High School Diploma/GED
Preferred Education
Bachelor’s Degree
Required Technical and Professional Expertise
Deep knowledge of the Apache Kafka and Flink ecosystem, distributed systems, and microservices architecture.
Experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP, specifically within GovCloud environments.
Familiarity with government procurement cycles and security frameworks (NIST, FISMA, DoD Impact Levels).
Ability to code/script in Java, Python, or Go to build demos and integrations.
Experience providing technical guidance to clients and sellers on event‑driven patterns.
Experience designing event‑driven and messaging solution architectures to drive business growth.
Experience developing technical strategies for Confluent and Kafka implementation.
Experience optimizing solution delivery methodologies to ensure timely and effective deployment.
Preferred Technical and Professional Experience
Experience and familiarity with the US Federal Market.
Air‑Gapped Environments: Ability to discuss running Confluent in disconnected environments with no internet access.
Legacy Challenge: Extensive knowledge of CDC (Change Data Capture) and moving data from mainframes into real‑time streams.
Complex Stakeholders: Experience presenting to Chief Data Officers (CDOs) and Security Authorizing Officials (AOs) about data sovereignty.
Additional Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with messaging and storage products and integration techniques such as Astronomer, Cassandra, and Data Replication.

Projected minimum salary per year: $137,000.00
Projected maximum salary per year: $257,000.00

Open for hybrid work arrangement; some travel may be required based on business demand.
Valid for a full calendar year; benefits may be pro‑rated for those who start during the year. The salary will vary depending on skills, experience, and location. Pay increment and frequency of pay will be in accordance with employment classification and applicable laws.
