WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR We are looking for a Sr. Event Manager to be the Project Lead on events of 5,000 - 15,000 people and/or complex workstreams on events 15,000+ people. As the Project Lead you are the main point of contact for the client, the team leader, and the budget owner. You ensure that client needs are anticipated and exceeded by being a strategic consultant and providing sound recommendations, driving decisions to support event goals, acting as the central hub of communication for clarity across the team, and leading a collaborative team environment for innovation and creative execution. In this role you will be responsible for the success of the project by ensuring stakeholders, internal teams, vendors, and additional contributors understand what is expected of them and drive excellence. You are results oriented, calm under pressure, ever optimistic, and able to meet demanding deadlines and balance multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. YOU SHOULD HAVE 5+ years of event management experience preferably within the event industry 2 3 years' experience leading a team Experience managing complex workstreams or programs at a mid-scale to large scale (e.g., 3,000-10,000 attendees in person) Please specify events worked on and role in resume. Bachelor's Degree (B.A.) from four-year institution preferred ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES Project Management Main point of contact for the client, the team leader, and the budget owner. Be the Project Lead on events of 5,000 15,000 people and/or complex workstreams on events 15,000+ people. Assume responsibility for success of assigned components of an event or project, meeting client objectives and client and manager expectation Skilled presenter and meeting facilitator, ensuring meetings are strategically designed and effectively managed. Maintains independent working relationships and establishes excellent customer service with clients, stakeholders and vendors. Utilize creative problem solving all along the planning cycle, consistently looking for ways to deliver more effectively Responsible for effective and timely communication between internal team, clients, stakeholders, and vendors via phone and email Set up and manage technical systems to effectively manage the project. Consultation Seen as a trusted partner and advisor and leader with exceptional project management and consultation skills when conducting business with clients, stakeholders, vendors, and Opus team members. Ability to anticipate areas of risk, communicate effectively, and implement creative solutions Financial Accountability Act as the overall budget owner, partnering closely with the financial manager to deliver timely, transparent, and accurate event financials, preventing budget overruns and increasing client expenditure awareness. Be a good steward of client funding, documenting approvals and changes, looking for ways to avoid costs, and creatively invest in experiences. Negotiates with vendors to achieve higher caliber service and/or costs savings on behalf of client Leadership Understands Opus values, best practices, and overall agency operations Actively participates and contributes to department meetings, trainings, initiatives, and committees Able to effectively prioritize and delegate to staff above and below this position. Maintains clear communication with manager and/or client, regarding special problems or exceptions to policies and procedures.
