Overview
Buffalo, NY — Merchants Insurance Group, a leading Property and Casualty Insurer in the Northeast, is looking for a highly motivated Graphic Design Intern interested in learning and applying their skills in a corporate capacity. You will work directly with colleagues and gain hands-on experience in creative programs, website and email design, digital content and print collateral.

Projects May Include
Support the Marketing team in producing digital and print assets.
Translate copy and requests into visually appealing content spanning print, digital assets, tradeshow graphics, social and web visuals while maintaining Brand voice.
Assist in translating content from one program to another.
Assist in monthly duties that follow templates, while seeking ways to improve or refresh those templates.
Engage in co-branded content creation for partner agencies.
Create and test email templates in the company’s CRM.
Assist in creating advertising merchandise and promotional items.
Ensure all exported assets meet Brand guidelines and support branding internally and externally as applicable.
Update basic entities across company web platforms, such as the public website and Marketing areas within secure portal websites.
Be an active participant in creative concepting and collaborate cross-functionally to achieve the best result.
Conduct competitive research and monitor industry trends to refresh content; monitor and identify emerging design trends and best practices to inform Merchants’ digital content.
Qualifications & Skills
Current student or Spring 2026 graduate of an undergraduate or graduate program in Graphic Design, Multimedia, Advertising, Fine Arts, Marketing, or similar with a minimum GPA of 3.0+.
Full-time, paid internship at $20.00 hourly starting June 2026 through August 2026 based on school schedule. A minimum of 2 months is required.
Basic experience with Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, etc.) and ability to show portfolio or examples of past digital work.
Basic experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Publisher, Excel, PowerPoint).
Foundational grasp of typography, layout hierarchy, and color theory.
Understanding of branding and how companies utilize brand guidelines.
Experience with or willingness to learn WordPress and HubSpot.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple concurrent projects, collaborate cross-functionally, and work within an established visual system.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail; adheres to naming conventions.
Excitement about telling brands’ stories.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
