We are an FDA registered manufacturer and distributor of fine chemicals and laboratory products with the largest selection of USP-NF-FCC chemicals for the manufacturing of food, drug, and personal care products available from a single source. Spectrum Chemical is seeking a dynamic outside sales rep for the Chicago area with a proven track record of increasing sales and exceeding plans in their territory. Our sales force has the opportunity to sell a wide variety of chemicals, laboratory products, and custom solutions across multiple industries, including Laboratory, Industrial, Pharma, Biotech, Cosmetics/Personal Care, and Med Device sectors. This role is field-based, requiring weekly face-to-face customer visits, with documentation in CRM and expense management via Concur Mileage app.
Core Role & Responsibilities
Manage territory through face-to-face meetings, with a minimum of 12-15 in-person meetings weekly.
Collaborate with customers to understand their needs and demonstrate how Spectrum's products can meet these needs. Drive growth across all sales channels.
Develop new business and grow existing accounts, supporting distributor relationships and attending trade shows.
Utilize CRM daily for data entry and sales tracking.
Learn Spectrum’s internal processes to facilitate simple customer requests.
Coordinate quarterly customer visits with your manager.
Provide marketing materials to customers and stay informed on new products to enhance sales strategies.
Operate as a self-starter, team player, and customer-focused professional with proficient PC skills.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
Experience Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biology, or life sciences, or at least 5 years of direct sales experience in the lab chemical industry.
Minimum of 3 years in outside sales, with 2+ years in chemical sales; experience in med-device and scientific products is a plus.
Ability to travel weekly within the territory.
Knowledge of cGMP, ISO, and change control processes is advantageous.
Ability to develop accounts from R&D through to production and QC.
Ability to lift/carry between 25-40 lbs.
Additional Information
This position is remote; candidates must reside within the territory.
