
NEWS REPORTER/MMJ - WNEM (FLINT)

Job Summary
WNEM is recruiting for a Reporter/MMJ in the Flint office. The Reporter/MMJ researches, writes, reports, shoots video, and edits news material for television newscasts and all WNEM news platforms and initiatives, including daily writing and posting on digital platforms and social media. The successful individual will provide a wide variety of news content, working alone or in tandem with other field personnel, contribute live shots for the Content Center, and represent WNEM publicly in a professional and courteous manner.

Duties / Responsibilities
Write, report, and present live from studio and in the field; shoot and edit video news stories from concept to finish; contribute copy stories to newscasts and digital platforms.
Perform live reports daily.
Generate story ideas, cultivate news sources, and remain knowledgeable regarding local and national events.
Contribute to minute‑by‑minute digital news efforts on all platforms with web content, social media posts, and live digital reports.
Build community contacts and share information on upcoming events, meetings, or story developments.
Present stories via on‑air, live from the set, live remotes, or live indoor locations.
Serve as community ambassador for the news department.
Respond to concerns of viewers.
Qualifications / Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Broadcast Journalism, Communications, or related field, or equivalent training and/or experience.
At least one year of experience in broadcast journalism.
Experience reporting (MMJ) news at a commercial television station preferred.
Valid driver's license with a good driving record.
