
Production/Packaging Helper - Alpha - Line 2D - 7:00pm - 7:300pm

Overview Under general supervision, the Production Helper takes pride and ownership in their work and may accept full responsibility for performance of duties. The Production Helper helps ensure that product meets specifications and that all materials needed for production are available and ready for use. Employees in this position may interact with a supervisor daily to receive guidance and feedback. Some non-routine activities may require supervisor approval; routine decisions within the general scope of the role may be made independently.
Responsibilities
Observe conveyors and production machine operation to prevent jams, dislodge jams, and follow all safety procedures.
Remove filled cases from the discharge end of machines, placing them on pallets and conveyors.
Inspect product for damage or conformity to specifications and escalate as needed.
Assist in sealing, labeling, and printing containers.
Monitor consumable levels such as packages, boxes, and labels, and replace as needed.
Monitor packages to ensure all information is printed appropriately.
Move materials or other items between machines or departments as required.
Open and load bags or boxes of ingredients into mixers, hoppers, or feeders as required.
Start or stop conveyors by pressing buttons on a control panel.
Stack and organize necessary production materials to prevent downtime.
Monitor ingredient levels for production and refill when required.
Maintain log sheets as required for Quality Assurance.
Report equipment problems to the Supervisor and maintenance personnel.
Maintain work area and tools in accordance with 5S standards.
Assist in training new employees or those changing job classifications.
Perform sanitation duties on machinery in accordance with the cleaning schedule.
Maintain a high level of sanitation and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
Promote safety in the work area by understanding and following safety procedures and reporting all accidents in a timely manner.
Perform other duties as required or assigned within the scope of this role.
Basic Qualifications
Education and Experience:
Required – High school diploma or GED equivalent.
Required – Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals in English.
Required – Ability to write routine quality assurance reports and correspondence in English.
Required – Ability to perform arithmetic with whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
Preferred – 1-3 years of food production experience.
Physical Demands The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to handle, reach with arms, and communicate. The employee is occasionally required to climb, balance, taste, or smell. Must regularly lift and/or move up to 10–25 pounds, and occasionally more than 50 pounds with assistance. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. Occasional exposure to wet and/or humid conditions. Items handled may be very hot. Noise level is usually moderate. Availability to work overtime, nights, weekends, and holidays may be required.
