iStaff is hiring: Technical Writer in Annapolis

iStaff, Annapolis, MD, United States

A fast‑growing tech organization is building a scalable, AI‑forward IT services platform for regulated industries — and with growth comes complexity. This role owns how knowledge is captured, structured, taught, and reused across the entire company.

You’ll build the systems that turn scattered expertise into:

• Clear operational guidance

• Faster onboarding

• Reliable audit‑ready documentation

• AI‑searchable, AI‑usable intelligence

This is a hands‑on, architecture‑level role — not just writing pages. You’ll shape internal documentation standards, training programs, and how AI tools consume organizational knowledge. Expect close collaboration with engineering, operations, leadership, and platform teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Knowledge Architecture: Design and maintain the company’s internal knowledge framework across technical, operational, and compliance domains.

• Documentation Standards: Define templates, taxonomy, versioning, and governance.

• Training & Enablement: Build and evolve internal training programs; create onboarding paths for technical and operational teams.

• Technical Documentation: Produce and maintain architecture diagrams, SOPs, runbooks, and escalation paths.

• AI Enablement: Structure content for AI retrieval, copilots, and automation workflows.

• Compliance Support: Maintain documentation that supports audits, controls, and regulatory requirements.

Required Experience

• 5+ years in knowledge management, technical documentation, enablement, or systems documentation

• Experience designing documentation systems (not just writing content)

• Background supporting technical teams (IT, cloud, security, SaaS, MSP, etc.)

Strong Pluses

• Experience building internal training programs or academies

• Familiarity with IT operations or regulated environments

• Experience with wikis, LMS platforms, or documentation frameworks

• Comfort working with AI/automation tools
