Job Title: Lineworker I-SR

This position may be filled as a Lineworker (Mechanic) I, II, III, or Sr based on the qualifications and experience of the selected candidate.

Job Summary / Purpose The ability to perform all aspects of the Lineworker job function, including but not limited to the day‑to‑day maintenance and building of overhead and underground electrical facilities. Responsibilities include varying levels of learning, performing, and leading other lineworkers, material maintenance, and aerial and underground work, including utility distribution construction tasks. Work with a Live Safe mindset in all tasks to mitigate identified hazards.

Responsibilities Lineworker I

Proper use and care of all rubber goods and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

Perform confined space and bucket rescue tasks and set up and operate aerial baskets and digger derrick trucks

Lifting, rigging and tying knots to set up, jobsite, and material for work in manholes and vaults, identifying materials and understanding distribution construction specifications

Cover up secondary lines and perform energized work on secondary voltage lines

Use meters to perform tests and install 3‑ and 4‑wire secondary lines

Identify substation and underground equipment

Lineworker II

Perform overhead tasks, including energized primary cover up to 34,500 volts

Understand transformer theories, including bank installations, tap settings, and identifying and constructing multiple secondary voltage applications

Learn and perform simple primary voltage switching (up to 34,500 volts) tasks and applications

Lifting, rigging and tying knots to set up, construct, frame poles, and change out cross‑arms, identifying materials and understanding distribution construction specifications

Lineworker III

Perform all tasks included in Helper through Lineworker II

Build and maintain underground residential distribution circuits, including but not limited to prep/operate pad mount switchgear, install and troubleshoot URD circuits and switching/tagging URD primary cable

Learn three‑phase primary tasks to include safe operation and removal/installation of single and three‑phase reclosers, changing out insulators, and installing and replacing Gang Operated Airbrake Switches (GOABs)

Lineworker Sr

Perform all tasks included in Helper through Lineworker III

Demonstrate strong Leadership capabilities including indirect crew leadership

Learn and perform advanced primary voltage switching (up to 34,500 volts) tasks and applications

Perform advanced Lineworker tasks on Regulators, capacitor banks, Alternate Switching Scheme, and Intelliruptor devices

All Levels Must Be Able To Perform The Following

Maintain a well‑organized jobsite to ensure the surroundings are safe

Complete all mandated training such as First Aid, CPR, etc.

Minimum Requirements Education

High School Diploma or equivalent

Experience

6 months - 4 years of experience in a distribution field (placement determined by experience)

Preferred: 2 years of direct Distribution linework experience

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Physical strength to perform required tasks in all weather conditions

Work irregular hours and out of town assignments as required

Take and understand directives and complete tasks with limited supervision

Plan and lay out all work in a safe and efficient manner

Assume a lead role and direct the work of other linemen

Climb and work off of poles of various heights

Walk on all types of terrain

Certifications & Licenses

Valid driver’s license

Class‑A CDL or ability to obtain one within 6 months of employment (Preferred: valid Class‑A CDL)

Other

Job may require “other duties as assigned” and may change over time in accordance with business needs
