Description Kentucky State Police is the premier, full-service law enforcement agency in the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Provides professional support to the Kentucky State Police Executive Staff Advisor and the Open Records Branch by implementing and maintaining the complex programs, projects, or activities. Being deadline oriented and working in a fast‑paced environment completing multiple tasks at a time is necessary.
Key Responsibilities
Assesses information and evidence records utilized in the agency’s Digital Evidence Management and Law Enforcement Recording systems. Reviews information to ensure the data integrity and correct use follow the agency’s mission, goals, objectives, public records law, and internal agency policies.
Processes open records requests including working with various organizational units to collect appropriate records, redacting files, requesting dissemination, and directing the public in proper filing procedures. Collects information from various forms of data; multiple body‑worn cameras and audio video. Under general supervision, ensures compliance to open records laws.
Works with central agency records staff in accordance with agency policies and public law to help provide modified records for dissemination to outside entities and agencies. Redacts files and requests dissemination.
Assists in organizing digital evidence within the systems in support of the agency’s policies and procedures. Applies KY Open Records statute and regulations to requests received.
Assists with the development of a resource plan to be coordinated with the agency Information Technology Branch to seek changes and modifications within the systems.
Performs research related to open records laws, regulations, and specific requests for records.
Makes recommendations for process improvement.
Provides professional support to the Open Records Custodian to include redacting files, request dissemination, directing the public in proper filing procedures and tracking 5‑day letter compliance.

Minimum Requirements EDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Three years of professional, administrative, or business experience.
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: Additional education will substitute for the required experience on a year‑for‑year basis.
Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Additional administrative, business, research, and/or clerical experience will substitute for the required education on a year‑for‑year basis.

Working Conditions Incumbents working in this job title primarily perform duties in an office setting.
Probationary Period This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
